I like this other side of her, but I could personally never see it as a standout in any way to be included on something like Clear Horizon. She was to me really following someone's dictation on how the song should be sung, and I think the producer kinda made her just another instrument as opposed to letting her be herself. It also sounded like a lot of different smooth jazz guest vocal songs to me. Now, in retrospect, I have to say this: you know, I don't think much of this CD at all. It's really bland, actually! I buy CDs like this for listening to at work, so I guess it will be alright as so much background music, but it's very unremarkable, apart form Basia's vocal. Interestingly, some folks on the forum at www.contemporaryjazz.com are kinda down on the CD as well. One guy said Basia would be the only reason he would buy it, and even that would make the money hard to part with. Ouch. "Just Another Day" on the > other had has that > contemplative character, typical to White. Maybe it's Peter, but I still can see it as at least halfway a Basia song. More of her own voice was there. It's almost as though Peter knew she coud handle it on her own (which is more than true, from my memory didn't she send it in by mail?) while the Spyra folks tied her up a bit . > Basia page. (Go to > http://www.diac.com/~herlin/ratings/ and click on > BASIA). Needless to say, it got a great review. Does anything not? On another note, there's a hilarious Alan Parsons Project joke in the new Austin Powers movie. Or maybe I just had the giggles at that particular moment.. It's one of those movies you try to see for free, if you know what I mean. - --Leslie _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I also am of the opinion that it isn't her speaking. Sounds nothing like her. Weird song. Her part sounds nice, tho'. > However, she **is** the only other vocalist > credited, so I guess we'll > just **have** to believe that she can smolder with > the best of them. (As > though there were any doubt!!) Heh heh! Of course, lack of credits is nothing new in the Basia universe. No berimbau player on the Baby Your Mine remix, no male vocalist noted on the Brave New Hope EP (leading many of us to think it was Danny), Peter White only getting a cursory 'thanks' for his work on 'Half A minute' with Matt Bianco....so I wouldn't be suprised if some French fluent chica snuck in there for some heavy breathing. - --Leslie (besides, Give Me That was bad enough) _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
