Herlin" Subject: Basia's new song and web site update Leslie Brown wrote: It's very interesting, she is in a different context than normally- its a definite Spyro Gyra song and very much not a Basia song (whereas Just Another Day could pass as a Basia song if it really wanted to) Funny, I got just the opposite impression. Where "Springtime Laughter" definitely has the Spyro Gyra sound, there's just enough of Basia's blended vocals Latin influence that it would fit nicely on Clear Horizon, for example. "Just Another Day" on the other had has that contemplative character, typical to White. I can't imagine such a harmonically stagnant tune popping up on a Basia album (though I've been surprised before). Isn't it wonderful that different fans hear different things! (Such is the value of belonging to a list like this.) With the event of the new release, I have added Got the Magic to my Basia page. (Go to http://www.diac.com/~herlin/ratings/ and click on BASIA). Needless to say, it got a great review. I also took the update opportunity to (finally) add the Clear Horizon cover artwork, and add a review of the "New Day" video. Feel free to browse.
