I leave for 3 days and look what happens! I'm kinda suprised, I know she was set to do something with Jay Beckenstein's solo record, but I didn't expect a Spyro track! - --Leslie (going to their web site now...) _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? She looked like an elephant in the balloon. Of course Poland won't be allowed next year, because when everyone sent the disco stompers, we had a soppy ballad which made everyone asleep. Including me. Ok people. It's the nutty Brit again. I KNOW you thought I'd died or something, but I had just had to put in my tuppence worth about Eurovision. I waited all year for this. I bought snacks, a nice wine, planned my whole weekend around it and.....well, I enjoyed the songs (although the UK entry was EMBARASSINGLY bad) but the VOTING. What a joke! All the countries now have telephone voting, which is supposed to be fairer, but how can this be when you can't get through? And what about all the 'political' voting that went on, you know, Sweden gives top marks to Denmark, and vice versa, Holland and Belgium vote highly for each other's song etc. etc...? I don't get how this could come about with telephone voting. I honestly cannot believe some of those results reflect how the viewers in those countries voted. It was even worse than in the 'bad old days' of the jury system!! Anyway, here were my favourites. Belgium (the good songs at the beginning always get forgotten when it comes to the voting), Iceland (that POOR girl!) and Denmark. I didn't actually like the Swedish song all that much myself. And as for my experiences regarding the voting....In the UK at least, it is impossible to get through on a conventional telephone. You have to use a mobile cellphone to even stand a chance. And there is so little time. So so much for 'fairness' if half the population can't get through!! My husband and I both have a cellphone, and between us we managed to register 24 votes for Belgium. But when the UK's results were announced, Belgium wasn't even there. Go figure! I used to enjoy Eurovision. 1983 was definitely the best year!! But since then it's all gone a bit downhill. The best highlights of the past few years have to be #1 The first appearance of 'Riverdance' and #2 Dana International trying to lift that Trophy and going base over apex. Hahaha!! I'd better finish this before all the Americans on this list wonder what the heck I'm warbling on about!!
