Or should I rather ask, how many of you actually listen to dance music? Who do you think should remix Basia? I'd vote for Victor Calderone, who did the wonderful job on Madonna's Frozen; Todd Terry - for the sake of having top 5 hit in the UK and Ray Navarra - because he's the best remixer I know! ;) Craig wrote: > The list I thought was long. Ohmigod. Sorry Craig, but I hope this won't happen; the problem is, every time Celine Dion does a track for _any_ movie, it is awful. (Speaking of which, wasn't the Streisand duet from the movie either?) But I'd like to hear her with Bruce Springsteen... dunno why. BTW, what track you think she should have done instead of the person who does it? (I'm not speaking of covering... what track do you think she would do better than the person who actually did it?) I'd say: take most of Mariah Carey songs, reproduce them, add Basia's vocals and we have some hits there! http://www.radio.com.pl/scripts/trojka/trojkowa_lista_przebojow/glosuj.idc > So, to be > > improved, Basia voice > > could respond to the...deep Barry White voice. I think it would be a great pairing!!! Barry White "sleeptalking" as he always does, and Basia adding those wonderful harmonies... like in his Tina Turner duet "In Your Wildest Dreams". I took my wife out to lunch yesterday at well known local jazz club/restaraunt and they played the Clear Horizon CD as background music for the entire lunch, nonstop, loud enough to enjoy but not interfere with conversation. It was fantastic. And my friend ASHOKE and JOE and JACKIE, and MEG will appreciate the fact that it was at CLUB ISABELLA, at the SAME TABLE that we had our BASIAFEST at in January of this year! It SUCKS. Period. Get rid of those infernal drum and bass machines. Get rid of BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM! Give me real musicians who can really play their instruments. Basia, Danny, Peter, and the rest of the band have real musical talent. For her to remix a song into a dance track in order to get club exposure cheapens the product. Let's face it, her music is a lot more sophisticated than most, and I really hate to see her lower herself to doing dance mixes. A DJ can often take the original work to an entirely different level. I like dance music but I'm not very knowledgable about the people. Usually I'll go for a remix because of who the original artist is (I would not voluntarily buy a Rager Sanchez album, but I have the remixes he did for Basia & Incognito, for obvious reasons) I do like Mark Farina, tho'. :) > hit in the UK and Ray > Navarra - because he's the best remixer I know! ;) Ray Navarra rocks, man! (LOL) I have to agree with Todd Terry too because of the work he did with Everything But the Girl. I think in theory he could do the same for Basia's work. > Ohmigod. Thank you for sharing your Basia moment with us! I mean, how perfect. The same table as BasiaFest, and the Clear Horizon CD! You couldn't asked for a better Basia "hour." Back on the subject of duets, I think George Michael would be a perfect match with Basia. They especially both have experience in singing in Brazilian rhythms--no doubt that their voices would match well. Al Jarreau would be a good match, too. I second that emotion. (My favorite Al song is his them to the TV show "Moonlighting.") I'm not sure how they'd match up, but they are both excellent singers. raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Apr 1999 22:18:05 -0400 From: "Thelma Gunter" Subject: Re: basia-digest V4 #98 My hubby is insisting on George Benson with Basia.
