I have learned so much here. "What would be your ideal Basia duet partner?" The list I thought was long. A whole album of Duets would be great. I am going to say that I think it would be neat to hear Basia and Celine Dion sing a new song Basia would write for a movie. I would love to hear them sing it in English, French, and in Polish. 1st off that would probable put Basia on top of the chats plus the world would award here with grammies, an Oscar of course. ect. ect. I am not a big Celine fan, I like here early stuff and here albums in French, yet I don't speak french at all, is that odd or what? Just don't play that Titanic song or I'll puke! I just think there vocals would blend well together. Just my odd thoughts ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Apr 1999 10:18:14 +0200 (CEST) From: Ray Navarra Subject: Wow! About duets, I think all propositions are pertinent and particulary Michael Franks (duet with Peggy Lee on "Dragonfly summer" is...grand, all in reserve). My question is that, for the duet, we don't need to find a relation beetween voices or music. I remember the duet on "Masquerade" with Phil Richarson. Voices are quiet differents. So, to be improved, Basia voice could respond to the...deep Barry White voice. I know, that's strange but why not ???. About Céline Dion, the risk is that the duet with Basia should turn to a competition as duet with Barbra Steisand ("...listen, I could sing higher..."). Read you soon. Ever since he came up in conversation a while back (when you said he wouldn't recognise her if she punched him in the stomach, which, after seeing the "Whose Side Are You On" video, just could happen) I've been thinking of how cool that would be. The amazing thiing is, Phil Richardson and Trey Lorenz aside (ugh!), I'm amazed she hasn't done an actual duet yet... - --Leslie (just because you have the same manager does not mean you should sing together, for Pete's sake!) _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I was amazed to find my inbox only had Basia ML posts! Usually I have piles of Acid Jazz ML posts that have no relation to my life. Yay, keep writing everyone! > About duets, I think all propositions are pertinent > and particulary > Michael Franks Yeah!! I was hoping someone would agree with me. he just has this great style, vocally. And he's one helluva songwriter. > My question is that, for the duet, we don't need to > find a relation > beetween voices or music. I remember the duet on > "Masquerade" with Phil > Richarson. Can you imaagine the lyrics? I'm sure Kevin Robinson would *love* that! (LOL again) Seriously, I could see it though. > About Céline Dion, the risk is that the duet with > Basia should turn to a > competition as duet with Barbra Steisand > ("...listen, I could sing > higher..."). Uh, yeah. For those of you in the States, it would be like "the Celine Dion Show" on Saturday Night Live. (the premise is that Celine hosts a show where her guests are all female vocalists, and instead of interviewing them she talks about herself. Then, they sing a duet and Celine takes over the song, every time.) It may be possible if Celine shows more restraint (I can't imagine Basia singing in an overblown style, although vocally she's probably capable of it) but then that would require me to faint in disbelief. As in, "Why Basia? Why?" (LOL) - --Leslie (gotta think about something else now, that vision is far too frighteninig...) _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I often think of him as Basia's musical male counterpart. Neither are afraid to use their voices in interesting ways. How about a second vote for Sting? Lately I've been wondering how that would be. I think they are great songwriters/composer waiting to be discovered. Or- a Danny White film score? Or- a Kevin Robinson solo album? Or....a friggin new album "before the summer holidays" as she said! But then on the other I could be totally (FoS) wrong too. It is 1999, and of course we have been waiting a long time. So I wonder if any of you have access to finding tour dates in the US of a possible CD promotioanl tour. Ms. Fisli spoke about the Peter White show at the pizza joint in England somewhere, but I was unable to attend. Did that show happen? Would'nt it be just great to see a live show. Soon. Also I experienced an "Elvis" stlye sighting of Basia about 25 miles West of Lincoln, Nebraska. In my rear view mirror Basia drove a little seafoam green Honda and was in quite a hurry to get to somewhere near Garland, Nebraska. She exited the highway at an incredible rate of speed. Drunk on love? Hmmm. She seemed to be singing loud and had concern about her hair. Weird. Any other sightings?
