A friend of mine tried to buy some Meatloaf stuff a while back and was one of the victims. She lost only about $35.00 and we didn't think much of it. Last week, she got a letter indicating the seriousness of the problem. You're it, man. A heartfelt, thank you!!!! > >Give some of it to me! I always wanted to be black... or at least, brown >:) > LOL!!! I have a funny story! In 1991 I went to a production of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" which featured, among others, a famous baritone. One of the arias that he was singing was the literal transcription of a proverbial "swan song" - where this swan that is being roasted for a feast is lamenting, NOT its death but, the fact that his beautiful plumage is being ruined by the smoke and flames (one QUEER duck, I tell ya!). Since I was familiar with the work, I didn't bother to read the translation in the booklet. Well when this baritone, who was African American, started singing this part everyone around me started giggling. Somewhat confused and annoyed, I looked in the booklet and read the following, very poorly done, translation of the opening line: "I was once white and now I am black..." :-D > >Math, dear. If he ever sang a duet with Allison Moyet it would lead to complete gender pandemonium! Which leads me to ask: Any Allison Moyet/Yazoo fans here? Just curious. It was a treat reading that Bio page - so many familiar names I have no heard in a while. The singer/vocalist mentioned their (Pran Nath) is someone I have seen live in Calcutta. It's very different from a live concert as one would envision here. This concert was a lecture/demonstration concert where he sang and paused and answered personal and technical questions about style, interpretation, etc. It was a real pleasure being their. Can you imaging Basia doing such a thing? However, with sixty piece orchestras I don't see it happening. However, it does make me wonder, what it would be like if she and Danny DID to a few of these "intimate" setting venues where they talked about the birthing process of some of their tunes (such as Copernicus and Yearning) that are quite unusual compositions. When I asked if that WAS her, the young lady behind the counter got sooooo excited that someone else actually knew who Allison Moyet was, that she refused to charge me for my mocha (I left her the entire price as a tip)!
