I HATE what I haven't given KKSF much attention in almost 3 years, and certainly none in the last year, except at the coffee shop I go to for breakfast. Even though it means I don't hear Basia on the radio, I have changed my listening to "straight-ahead" and traditional jazz, and become a supporter of KCSM (91.1 FM). Dick Conte, who does the evening show on the weekend at KKSF, is the midday anouncer during the week on KCSM. I, too, was tired of the same old formula of music carefully chosen to pander to unsophisticated ears, and I needed music with more "meat" to it. That, however, means I rely very heavily on this list for news about Basia. > >When I went the basement to dig out my LWNY & TSI souvenir programs to >find an outfit for Ashoke to wear to the concert :-D), I found a long >article which appeared in the Contra Costa Times (ring a bell, >Stephen?) That reminds me, I should also scan Basia's autograph in the TSI program to send to Ben. I didn't know about the article, but I also don't read newspapers, at least not the mainstream press, for reasons I won't go into on this list. But, it is amazing how one can keep up on "current events" anyway (ie. talk in the break room, "around the water cooler", etc.). > >Joanna >(born and raised in San Franciso but now an Oakland resident) > Stephen (born in St. Paul, MN; lived in Tucson, AZ; Agoura, Thousand Oaks, Redwood City, Half Moon Bay, Arcadia, San Mateo, South San Francisco, CA; all before moving to Concord) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Dec 1998 07:24:40 -0500 From: "Paul S. Meg, I arrive via Brussels on Wednesday 12/23/98 on flight SN543 at 2.40pm EST, but it usually takes another hour to clear customs and immigration, probably longer now given the current world situation. If you are in the vicinity of Cincinnati airport, just look for a large crowd of people waving signs. Our friends usually bring neighbours and friends along so they can get a kick out of seeing us get frisked at the last security checkpoint (my husband has that kind of face!!). We are staying for Christmas and New Year this time. Last year we flew back on New Year's Eve and it was really horrible. This year we get to see the kids go back to school at least. Those cute little school buses you have really freak me out!! And YES.......my first port of call will be Bestbuy, to buy my own dear copy of 'Clear Horizon'........!!! Jan p.s. CURSEWORDS? Me? (To my surprise, the real words were different that I though--instead of "First one--it's a shock. A second helping--not good enough. Third time lucky--and you've arrived!" I always thought it was, "First one--bitter shock. Second helping--not good enough. And third time lucky, and you were mine.") ANYWAY, back to the subject. There is one line that goes: "He found my 'joie de vivre' so cute and rather touching." Now my French ability is zilch. Maybe it means "joy of life." Can anyone tell me what "joi de vivre" means? Also, would anyone know what album of Matt Bianco's has the song "Lost In Love?" It was release fall of '95, I believe. The song was popular when I moved to Japan around that time, and would like to get a copy, but I forget the title of the CD it was on. Take care, everyone, and I hope you all have good joie de vivre, whatever that means! :) raburabu joe ******************************************************************** Joe Palcher jjpalcher@msn.com ICQ#4618534 ******************************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Dec 1998 20:30:54 -0800 From: Joel Cairo Subject: Re: Attention all Francophones and Matt Bianco fans Joe Palcher wrote: > Now my French ability is zilch.
