I am sticking up for Ohio, and I wanna get the heck out of here+ACE-) Just wanted to let Ray and others know that I am a HUGE PSB fan. I've been such for more than ten years. Their last album was a near masterpiece--I love how they integrated Brazilian rhythms into many of their songs. And they write songs along with the likes of Alanis Morrissette. Their style of writing is completely different than a vast majority of writers today--not just an +ACI-I Will Always Love You+ACI---but think, +ACI-I love you, you pay my Rent.+ACI- Or like Alanis's +ACI-Ironic+ACI- or +ACI-Thank You.+ACI- Not your normal style, a bit weird to listen to at first, but really ingenious once you appreciate it. My favorite CD's for the year are: 1. +ACI-Ray of Light+ACI---Madonna just kicked musical ass with this album this year. 2. +ACI-Stay Gold+ACI---Keizo Nakanishi, a BRILLIANT artist, Japanese (has collaborated with Peabo Bryson, Brenda Russell, and Herbie Hancock) 3. +ACI-Human Beings+ACI---Seal 4. +ACI-Ladies And Gentlemen+ACI---George Michael. His new songs are amazing. 5. +ACI-My Love's Your Love+ACI---Whitney Houston. I've waited longer for her for a new studio album than Basia. I have been musing on everyone's reaction to "Clear Horizon," and especially Ashoke's apparent obsession with the title song itself -- 40 minutes worth of it on a recent trip to the airport, by his account! I confess: I've been listening to more than my share of Clear Horizon and here's what has happened. When I first began running through the CD, after each of her "hits" by reflex I expected the next song from the original CD to follow. Now, after many, multitudinous, and REPEATED listenings (over and over, that is), I automatically expect the next "Clear Horizon" song! I'm not sure whether this is a good thing, except I'm getting MUCH closer to pinning down those harmonies. Meg ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Dec 1998 17:42:25 -0500 From: "Ashoke S. Interesting that you should mention this Meg. I have heard CH many times but I still start humming "Run for Cover" after Promises or "Freezethaw" after T&T. And NOT hearing those sombre drums from "Yearning" after TTL is downright erie sometimes. > >I'm not sure whether this is a good thing, except I'm getting MUCH closer >to pinning down those harmonies. > I have the harmonies for CH (even for the main melody) and Angels Blush worked out and it's such a pleasure to sing with. >Meg > ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Dec 1998 17:51:02 -0500 From: "Ashoke S. You just need to move to Cleveland or Columbus rather than Dayton. :-D On the note of best albums, although I heard them before 1998 the following are all time favorites: 1. Paul Simon : Negotiations and Love Songs 2. Annie Lennox : Medusa 3. Ryuichi Sakamoto : Playing the orchestra (music from "The Last Emperor" and "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence") 4. Soundtrack for "Out of Africa" 5. Suzanne Vega : Suzanne Vega Ashoke. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Dec 1998 18:14:24 -0500 From: "Joe Palcher" Subject: Re: Basians in Ohio "Out of where? Ohio?
