Does USA have _any_ chart that would say how do the records sale? The Billboard chart is based in 80% on airplay and in _20%_ on sales, and radio-only singles go to top ten... That's a weird country. And I'm a chart freak... :D > Cruising for Bruising was a big deal here in the States, though, at it's > time. LWNY went gold in 3 weeks. I'm really glad about it; LWNY is my fave Basia album, because of Cruising For Bruising, Baby You're Mine and energy-packed Copernicus. Tomasz wrote: > No--that's impossible!! Simply: I'm very glad. > That's all. And that's it!!! NO AMBITION?! TOO EASY?! Oh *Gawd* That made me mad. PSB were too often criticized for being too intelectual... lyrics for Bilingual contain references to World War II, Cold war and Communism, glib businessmen, AIDS, Christmas, Saturday night clubbing (that's not really intelectual, I know.) ... They had recorded songs about Thatcherism, mass media appeal and history; there's a full time historic track "Don Juan" (at Alternative CD) which deals with reasons for World War I. If somebody says the PSB are too easy and have no ambition, he must be a fan of Hanson. :) (Sorry for a PSB content... I couldn't help it. "Too ambitious" or "not ambitious enough" seems an odd way to talk of music to me (no offense to your friends, Tomasz) >(Sorry for a PSB content... I couldn't help it. Although I don't have figures for singles (yet), both the "Time & Tide" and "London Warsaw New York" LPs were certified platinum (1 million+ copies sold), while "The Sweetest Illusion" was certified gold (over 500,000 copies sold) by the RIAA. Incidentally, the Japanese "Clear Horizon" single dropped to #24 on the J-WAVE chart for this week... a slight dip from last week's position.
