Thank you all for your input. I was very surprised to learn that Danny and Basia did not write this tune. I should have read the credits! However, Basia's decision to perform and include this song on her album says a lot about her personality. Where can I get the original??? Perhaps, the "river bank" has silently seen all of the things that "happen" in the song. Hmmm. Ashoke wrote of a sinister undercurrent in the song somewhere, perhaps the 2 references to death. However death is part of life and I am sure the "river bank" has seen it all, both life and death. When one sits on the bank of a river in the very early spring, one can see things that cannot be seen when the foliage is alive and hiding the reality of what is underneath. What is underneath can be ugly, however what is underneath can also be beautiful. Whenever I listen to the song I get that same feeling of "excited anticipation" of good thing to come. "..its the promise of life, its the joy in your heart." What a very interesting song. It evokes "feelings" inside of me as do many of Basia's songs. I guess that is one of the things I truly enjoy about her music! Richard ..... of course from Ohio ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Dec 1998 12:31:35 -0500 From: "Ashoke S.
