I had stumbled somehow into the cdjapan site and since my "Best Remixes I" has Japanese writing all over it I decided to see if they had # II. They didn't have it listed but they had an "order anything" button and I had the EPIC # (ESCA-5449). They sent a confirmation that they had "a few" and listed the price. - -Bill ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Nov 1998 09:36:07 -0800 From: Bill Schnaitter Subject: Re: Clear Horizon AND BONUS TRACKS? It contains "Cruising For Bruising" extended mix; "From Now On" band version; "Run For Cover" extended remix; "Promises" extended French mix; "New Day For You" extended version; and "Baby You're Mine" street version. It was released by Sony and the booklet has all the words in it. Just hadda share! Have a happy and cruelty-free ThanXgiving! FIDYL S. Fla. I wasn't sure if I was reading the Sony (Japan) website correctly-- I thought that's what it said, but it's been a long time since my Japanese classes, and I couldn't be sure. I can say that, for discographical purposes, I have had it on (advance) order, and am expecting it to show up within about 7-10 days at my local Japanese bookstore. If someone doesn't land one before that, I'll let you know what's on the disc, when mine shows up. Hopefully, the single (also on order) will show up too, and I can let y'all know if there are any surprises there, as well. Personally, I'm at a loss to guess what the 3rd bonus track on the album would be-- it seems somewhat unlikely that it's another new track, but we'll see... CDJapan was correct about the advance release in Japan, though-- the album came out on 11/11, and the single of "Clear Horizon" was scheduled to be issued on 11/18. And who gets the bonus tracks?? The nerve! If there really IS a bonus track, we should mp3 the track and make it available to anyone who doesn't want to spend a ridiculous $30.00 to order the CD from Japan. If I can get a hold of the original Japanese CD, I will duplicate the track for the cost of a CD+first class mail (total of about $3.50). I don't normally mind paying $30.00 for a special CD, but when ONLY 40% of that is the actual CD price (the rest is exchange, shipping, handling, etc.), particularly because of Sony's piss-poor US marketing, then you bet I do. Copyrights be damned. I just received my "Clear Horizon" CD at work (from "love-them-or-hate-them" cdnow.com) and have listened to it, oh, about three or four times already. I must say that I am perfectly happy with ALL the new songs. It is simply a joy to hear ANYTHING -- new or old -- from Basia. If her style is evolving (and it might be), well thank goodness her voice is still as clear and beautiful, her harmonies as heavenly, and her partnership with Danny still in tact. It's fun having little tastes of all her CDs in one place, along with the newer surprises sprinkled throughout. As for the photos: the mountains and sand dunes notwithstanding, she's just beautiful. Period. And I think we can finally attribute Danny's "you got a problem with me?" appearance to nothing more than the shape of his eyebrows (he should comb them UP instead of down). I think he looks downright relaxed paired with Basia's radiant, skyward gaze. I am happy to have this "new" CD and, like everyone else, am looking forward to more. This is an appetizer that was worth the wait. Meg ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Nov 1998 20:27:06 -0500 From: "Joe Palcher" Subject: Those darn bonus tracks Americans never get Hey, guys. It's Joe here. It's been ages since I have posted. I moved back from Japan, and finally got my computer up and running again last month, and finally decided to jump back into the boat of one of my favorite divas, Basia. Seems like I got back in at a good time, or I wouldn't have known about "Clear Horizons." I know this is something that has probably been talked about as much as the Clinton scandals, but when will the CD be in stores here in the States? Meg (Hi Meg! It's been ages!) said that she ordered it from www.cdnow.com. I then tried (in vain) to see if it was at my fav local CD shop. I asked the woman at the counter, and she said that she didn't even have a listing for Basia, at least until the end of this year. What is the deal here? Which might make me result in ordering it form www.cdjapan.com. I am SO frustrated with record companies that release CDs in Japan with bonus singles, and leaving us American customers short-changed. Well, at least I lived in Japan for a few years and was able to buy them. All major artists released albums with bonus tracks (and not only in Japan, but also Europe): Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Vanessa Williams, and Madonna, to name a few. And the bonus tracks are usually good songs, too. BTW, I wanted to thank whoever first mentioned www.cdjapan.com initially on this list. I didn't know that page existed before, and now I am ECSTATIC that I will be able to easily order CDs of my favorite Japan artists (including Keizo Nakanishi) without having to rely on friends there buying and sending it for me. Thank you, for you have saved me. Finally, I wanted to apologize to those that had sent me messages in Japan about trying to find the Japanese single version of "Angles Blush." (My address there was jjp@post.click.or.jp.) I looked everywhere for it, but couldn't find it. Sorry! But at least we'll be able to listen to it on the new CD! Take care, guys, keep up the great letters! raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Nov 1998 19:36:07 PST From: "Rob B." According to cdjapan (go to http://www.cdjapan.com/search.html and put in Basia) and as expected, the Japanese release is the ONLY one to contain a third song. Is it a new one? Probably. Pray tell, what's it mean?) and on the back of the liner notes..".dedykuje te plyte mojejkochanej rodzinie oraz wszystkim rodakom w Polsce i tym rozsianhym po swiecie" (I'll take a wild guess at that first word..dedicate? and Polsce is how you say Poland in Polish?) (Sorry, Tomas, I can't do the diacritical marks in this e-mail program.) If any others of you out there are so inspired, let's try to rustle up some of that enthusiasm that surfaced when Ashoke first proposed the book, and help get it together! Ashoke, maybe you'd like to repost the formats you can accept and sort of an overview of your plans. Maybe this will get some of us off our duffs!
