Kevin, I've been looking for a scan of that "No Boundaries" CD (I may have to break down and buy it! -- it's at my local Disc Go Round). But.... in my searching I found a decent enough scan of the KSSJ CD and this new one (to me anyway) Siren Song - another compilation from 1996. Here's a URL to a place with info: http://www.tunes.com/tunes-cgi2/tunes/release/67410/1/4 I've already gotten a better scan of the cover from imusic.com. I also linked us to the Ultimate Band List and linked our URL there as well -- right with Ben's. Don't sweat things! I'm gonna be working two jobs until the end of the week... and as I predicted, my computer did go down on Sunday -- my husband is the kinda guy who just sticks the hardware in and figures it'll work. It didn't, it had an IRQ conflict with my modem, and once I fixed that, I spent the rest of the afternoon looking online for how the heck to make a network work -- finally succeeded (had a massive brain thinking too hard headache by then as well! ) and now we up and running. My next task is to figure out how to get the printers to cooperate with us. *sigh* And computers are supposed to make things easier for us..............? Take care, will chat at you by Saturday. Thanks again for finding that Clear Horizon clip - I snagged the wav so if you want we can add it to the site! I have to wait until noon today before I can go and get the CD too! Working my second job this a.m. WAAAAAAH Anyway.... lemme go get ready for the day -- Bev ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 07:06:44 PST From: "Leslie Brown" Subject: This is cool! Yes, I am easily amused, but you guys might get a kick out of this: 1. Go to the Sony website 2. Check out the flashing record covers on the left side. Gee! It almost makes up for their lax updating! - -Leslie, going back to the site to see what else is new now... ...and really hoping she can get away from homework long enough to get 'Clear Horizon' today! If you don't see the Basia icon in the opening animation (in the far left corner) keep hitting 'reload'. They have one of those sites that changes at each view. I noticed that after I went back to the site and got Lauryn Hill and Maxwell instead. :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 12:12:26 PST From: "Rob B." Subject: It'll do! Just listened to the new songs from Clear Horizon and I have to agree with those of you who liked Basia's "Waters of March" - it is excellent! Outstanding! Makes me forget (a little) about Tom and Elis' version. I thought "Clear Horizon" and "Go For You" were excellent as well, but was a little disappointed in "Angels Blush". (my disappointed=ONLY a 7 on a scale of 1-10) Nice picture (singular) of Danny and Basia! Oh, and Sony shouldn't spend so much on the art for the CD. Plain blue is VERY expensive. (Jerks!) Will it do for now? Yeah, it'll do! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 21:07:41 -0500 From: "Dennis J. By the way, looking at the artist credits, something notable pops out: Of the post-BOB stuff, Peter White is not listed on any track. Hmmm.... And the two new tracks really show a minimum of musicians. Going back to the T&T roots, huh? Synthesizers, drum tracks, programming... Or were these meant as demo tracks? As Rob says, it'll do for now. Best, Dennis - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis J. WOW! Well, I just picked up the new CD, taking a break from coding Netware server module linkers (don't ask!). First impressions: "Clear Horizon" -- I didn't care for this track. Basia's voice gets drowned out by the chorus too often, and there wasn't any real instrumental charm to it. "Go For You" -- WOW! WOW! This is one of my favorite Basia tracks ever. I've always preferred the jazzy, sassy Basia tracks -- "Sneaking Out the Back Door", "How Dare You", "Not an Angel", "Masquerade", and "An Olive Tree" are all in my top 10. This one shows that she can still take a pile of notes and make it sound wonderful. "Waters of March" -- very nice. I'd heard the MP3 version of this a few months ago, but I'd not really gone back to listen to it again. I love the wordplay here, again a fast, jazzy masterpiece. "Angels Blush" -- the intro to this reminds me of "Copernicus", and its a nice song. Quite good in fact, but not a standout. I'll play this a lot around Christmas, I'm sure (hmmm... a Christmas mix CD, what an idea!) The other tracks -- a good selection, no big surprises. At 73:30, there is no room for any extra tracks; I wish they'd had some alternate versions, like the street version of Baby You're Mine. I would have tried to get "Copernicus" in there; others have already mentioned the missing "Until You Come Back To Me"... its lack of inclusion might have been financially motivated by Sony -- no extra royalties to pay. - -- Benjamin L.
