I too had the same reaction Dennis did. But Peter (via our dear Diane) already said that there's a separate release in the works for 1999. I hope that's still the schedule. And, nope, Ms. Swan didn't write back. The person whom I called (her secretary in the office) yesterday on a whim was like: "Call back in a month" regarding Basia appearances.... *sigh*. -- Beverly Martin Either way, November 17 is a'comin'!!!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Oct 1998 13:56:46 PST From: "Rob B." Subject: Sade/Prime Time Help....anyone. Most bio. information on Basia lists Sade as an inflence. Is this true? I always thought Basia had been singing for a while before Sade came along. Secondly I have found a CBS video titled "Prime Time" listed under some Basia discographies but not available, or without a number. Is this a mistake, or was it out and is now off the market? Thanks- (only 19 more days....tick....tick...tick) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Oct 1998 16:17:50 PST From: "Mike Soto" Subject: Clear Horizon in the press Hello! Just came across the following article off the entertainment wire -- can't wait until the 17th. Mike Soto ___________________________________________ Contemporary Pop-Jazz Singer Basia Is on the Rise once Again Entertainment Wire 27-OCT-98 NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--October 27, 1998-- International Superstar Shines On Her Fifth Album, Collecting The Best of Her Studio and Live Performances With New and Previously Unreleased Songs: First Single Is Brand-New Track - "Clear Horizon" Featuring highlights from her best-selling albums Time And Tide, London Warsaw New York, The Sweetest Illusion and Basia On Broadway, the 17-song collection includes her two Top 30 Pop hits ("Time And Tide" and "Cruising For Bruising") and a pair of scintillating live numbers recorded in late 1994 during Basia's sold-out 11-night stand on Broadway. The title track and first single "Clear Horizon," mixed by Dave Bascombe (Oleta Adams, Tears For Fears, Depeche Mode), and "Go For You" are brand new songs co-written and co-produced by Basia and her long-time creative partner Danny White specially for this release. A native of Poland and resident of London, Basia Trzetrzelewska (che-che-LEV-ska) made a huge splash stateside in 1987 with the release of her solo debut Time And Tide (Epic). The album spun off two Number One Adult Contemporary hits-- "Promises" and "New Day For You" -- and was certified platinum in 1989. Her follow-up London Warsaw New York (Epic) went gold within two weeks of its release in early 1990, "floating along on those sleek intoxicating Brazilian rhythms," as it was hailed by the LA Times, to platinum status in 1992. After a year of international touring, Basia recorded The Sweetest Illusion (Epic), her third gold record, and began a North American tour shortly after its May 1994 release. The tour culminated in an electrifying sold-out run at the Neil Simon Theatre in New York City-- a heightened mood of confidence and energy captured on her live album Basia On Broadway. And if all the highlights and new material somehow weren't enough for Basia fans, Clear Horizon also contains some unreleased rarities: a lively version of Brazilian jazz legend Antonio Carlos Jobim's bossa nova "Waters Of March" and the dreamily rendered closing track "Angels Blush". Clear Horizon: The Best Of Basia marks a completely new horizon for an established singing star. Watch for it on November 17th from Sony 550 Music. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V3 #240 ***************************
