Subject: News about Clear Horizon Hi there gang! First time poster - LONG time fan(atic)! Never thought I'd find an artist I wouldn't get tired of listening to. Wasn't sure if you all have seen the press release from Sony about Clear Horizon. They don't add much to what you probably already knew. http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/981027/sony_550_m_1.html BTW - CDNow seems to be the best price ($12.99) I've been able to find. Thanks for the tip. It was the first I'd seen in print from Sony about it. You know, all this excitement rivals the weeks before the release of BOB some time ago. Can it really be that we've been waiting so patiently for so long? We can only hope that the creative gears start turning quickly and the *NEW* CD comes soon. Then (and only then) we might see a tour. I really doubt anything much will happen with this release. Maybe a promotional TV tour, but certainly no concerts. (My opinion.) This made me think of the release of LWNY, oh so long ago. What's it been, 10 years? At the time I listened a lot to a station in Buffalo which played a lot of jazz with a little rock mixed in. It was called "The Wave". Well, anyway, Basia was a huge deal with them. they were playing several tracks regularly from T&T. Before LWNY was released they got an advance copy and talked a lot about it before they actually played anything from it. The day they did finally start playing it, they played one new track every hour, it seemed. Talking her up all the while. It was a very big thing with them. It made MY day! I hope she can regain some of that magic. Dennis ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Oct 1998 08:37:18 -0700 From: "Thomas R. Herlin" Subject: New Basia Fan Site & Clear Horizon Dear Basia Fans, First, let me thank Ben for linking to my new site (http://www.diac.com/~herlin/ratings/basia.htm) from the BasiaWeb. I hope this gives more people a chance to see it, and, in turn, stimulates greater interest in Basia's music. Second, be assured that *Clear Horizon--Best of* will be included in my reviews, just as soon as its released (I haven't heard the new songs yet). Third, I notice that there are four (!) new (at least to me) songs on the new CD. And, with 17 tracks, it looks like a lot of music. I am pleased to see "An Olive Tree"--one of my personal favorites--on the list. Bye for now, Thom ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Oct 1998 09:44:52 -0600 From: Beverly Martin Subject: Re: News about Clear Horizon Rob, Let me also thank you for posting the link info so we could read the Sony Press Release, so far that's *all* they've officially put out on Clear Horizon. I went one step further and emailed the contact they listed at the bottom of the release to compliment her on the press release (always sweeten the pot I say!) and then I detailed our mailing list (maybe Ms. Swan will post here...? Ya never know!) and then I asked the BURNING QUESTION (the one I *really* want the answer to: Will Basia be making any television appearances to promote Clear Horizon or (better yet!) concert tour? I hope to see a response from this lady tomorrow.... maybe today. Of course I will post responses here. Waiting impatiently for November 17, -- Beverly Martin PS: I also mentioned in my email to Ms. Swan about how disappointing it was to read details about the new album via CDNow or other music retailers rather than the Sony site -- maybe she'll take the hint! ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V3 #239 ***************************
