This isn't really unusual, and its not picking on Peter or anything. :) Back in ye olde music department days, on Tuesdays- particularly big shipment days- we had to prioritize our stocking because there would be so much time to stock and rearrange, and usually so little manpower to do it. Of course the big name releases and sure sellers would go up first, along with any promotional display stuff. We would then order the categories according to priority- pop first, then r & b, rap, county and the like, then stuff like jazz and classical. So Peter was probably waiting in the Jazz pile for his day under the flourescent lights. :) This is at Media Play, mind you, so everyone may do it differently. But I suspect that this system may be true in most stores. - -Leslie ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 20:23:49 -0700 From: "Robert J. When do the staff do their jobs to have the new product on the shelves for the consumer. Especially as they are advertising it in the store. Also they had about 6 people just standing about chit-chatting. Hey if I was an artist with a CD released that day I would sure hope that the places that sell it have it available as soon as possible. bfn BobR ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Oct 1998 19:16:41 -0600 From: tom@inetnebr.com, kelly&jordan Subject: Leslie wants to know. sly bob Ms.Brown wants the Poop. "Does anyone have the story on the animosity level in Basia & Danny's leaving the group? I gather it was high. Basia hasn't really had much good to say about being in the group, but I'm curious about Mark Reilly's point of view. Now, I'm not knocking Matt Bianco, I do like the CD. But it does seem weird to have the former incarnation of the group featured so prominently in the collection, and have those responsible relegated to a mere footnote." I am no expert but TWO thing took place for sure. A) 1984 release WSAYO sold 1.5 million world wide.$. 1) Basia started to "like" Danny White more than other band members. 2) Basia started her own band with Danny White. B) Together, they have sold on the platinum level. Finally, I asked the sales people and they had to go to the computer to see if it was in, found five in stock, then went behind the counter and looked in a box to get it. You are right, it should have been out on display. I am thankful that they even had any left.
