Since I already have WSAYO on vinyl (and I just got it too-drat) I took home the 'Best of.." out of curiousity (because I was honestly hoping their whole body of work was better than their cover of "The World Is A Ghetto"- aiiii!). Well, I like the CD well enough, and there are 6 cuts from the aforementioned WSAYO, but the thing that got me was the 'Thanks to all those who were there' listing. Gee, down toward the bottom quarter of the list, there's a little shout-out to some guy named Danny White and some chick named Basia- I mean, these guys weren't any big part of the group or anything, Danny White just WROTE 6 SONGS ON THAT ALBUM! Gee, nothing worth noting! And, didn't that Basia lady sing some half a minute song or something? (and to me the subsequent singers on the Best Of were trying awful hard to sound relatively like her) Gol-l-ly! Is it just me or is this a bit of disrespect? I mean, I can sort of understand Basia being kind of a 'special thanks to' person a little more than I can understand a main founding member of the group and main composer (and don't even tell me Mark Reilly could've come up with those songs alone! Here's a guy who wrote "Dont deprive yourself to a helping of myself". 'Nuff said!). It was 'Bianco' for a reason, darn it! Does anyone have the story on the animosity level in Basia & Danny's leaving the group? I gather it was high. Basia hasn't really had much good to say about being in the group, but I'm curious about Mark Reilly's point of view. Now, I'm not knocking Matt Bianco, I do like the CD. But it does seem weird to have the former incarnation of the group featured so prominently in the collection, and have those responsible relegated to a mere footnote. Welll, hopefully Danny got a nice chunk of change from it. - -Leslie, not really meaning to sound this fired up- but we're talking about Danny here! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V3 #229 ***************************
