The folks on the Gloria Estefan list did that a couple of years ago - making a birthday card for her 40th. The project almost drove the guy in charge nuts, but it finally got to her. We are a much smaller list, so it may well be something we could do. un abrazo, juan ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Aug 1998 09:34:52 -0500 From: Beverly Martin Subject: A Book/Card for Basia.... We've been told that they know we exist, I'm certain Danny and Basia know that Diane handles Peter's webstuff -- maybe they're just not into the internet. > Perhaps we can start a MEANINGFUL, sorta-chain notebook. Ashoke, what a wonderful idea! I'm sure Basia would be very flattered and appreciative if we did this. Also, it would be a great testimony of OUR appreciation for her and her music. So, when and how do we get started? And, remember, great things in life start with a dream... I would be more than happy to receive the contributions and take on the responsibility of binding it, etc. However, I would feel a bit sad the contributors would not get to see the finished product. I suppose I could scan the pages, cover and take a few digital photos and send them to Ben to post on the site. I think a hand-written letter is a GREAT idea - makes it much more personal. Because I wouldn't want to do all of the above with a 300+ page document, perhaps we should all limit ourselves to ONE paragraph. I will cut them out and put paste them into a leather-bound notebook, along with the used postage from each contribution, have it monogrammed, take the scans and then mail it to Basia and Danny or their nearest point of contact. It might be nice to include, inside a jacket on the back-cover, a copy of the Basia Internet Video CD along with a note from Ben regarding its conception, progress and finish. Ben, what do you think? If this really gets going I am going to invite any and all of you to contribute, along with your letter, any artwork that you might want to include. Someone should also write a nice foreword (Phil, Joe Baker & Co., hope you're listening). If I have at least 20 people who are willing to contribute, I will post my mailing address and we can talk about how to mail them, etc. If you wish to contribute, please post a message on the list, so folks will know who are in the game. Regards, Ashoke. ________________________________________________________________ Ashoke S. I'm Thelmamamamamama (six children) of South Carolina. I have a tape of the Atlanta show. Not super good but I cherish it. Long story. I feel I know you all due to being on the list. I finally got a CD with Angel's Blush the other day in the mail from a company in California. They took a long time to get it here but it made it. There is a copy up for bid on "Ebay" the online auction. I feel like a soul mate to Basia and if you get the imitation band up and going I would love to try out for the role of Basia. :) Dreaming yes I'm dreaming. - -----Original Message----- From: Somegirl99@aol.com To: basia@smoe.org Date: Saturday, August 29, 1998 6:12 PM Subject: Notebook - count me in > >> If you wish to contribute, please post a message on the list, so folks will >know >> who are in the game. > >I've got a pen...
