I'm all for "New Day For You," while Juan and Robert quibble about MIDI files. That's a tricky one for me to sing -- I'm good at the beginning, but the chorus gets me. Ashoke, are you game? Also, you guitar boys better be working on "From Now On" among others. That seems to be a hand-down Basia favorite on this list. Personal request: "Half A Minute." I can't get enough of it! Now get your MIDIs straightened out, fellas. But I will warn you that after singing the chorus three times, I am liable to pass out or throw up or get a nosebleed. >Also, you guitar boys >better be working on "From Now On" among others. I mean the look of horror on a terrified right-wing face in a car next to mine, as they listen to me blare out Aretha Franklin's "He's the boy for me", is just too precious a vision to be lost! :-D Ashoke. ________________________________________________________________ Ashoke S. I done told you already I is a percussionist and drummer -- albeit *without* a drum kit or MIDI though. Right now I'm more a poor woman's STOMP. :) (as my family and friends often say "stop that durn tapping!") But if someone would point me in the right direction for some shareware MIDI software so I can drum something up....I be ready to play!!! > But, yes I am game and I can do the harmony on the opening lines. How's it goin? I have been looking for a really good jazz guitarist, and was told the name Joyce Cooling. That means nothing to me right now, am I a disgrace or is she small time or does she suck? Any info on her or on someone else that is good, would be greatly appreciated. (The solo on Drunk On Love, by Basia has tuned my ear to this genre......anything similar to that would be equally enjoyed, i would think.) Anyone know of any RealAudio sites that play Basia? I know there are sites devoted to just one artist (like Jimmy Buffett), and sites that play artists that are similar, but don't know of any that play Basia. Thanks much! Joyce is a very good guitarist from the San Franciso Bay Area. She has been a little known quality guitarist for a long time. That has changed recently. She has become better known in the last year or two, and gotten even better while incorporating a little latin and brazilian influence into her playing. Three others that you might check out, having a "staight-ahead" jazz approach, are Jimmy Bruno, Kenny Burrell, and Joe Pass (for starters). Or, if you prefer the latin tinge, check out Jeff Linsky and Claudia Gomez.
