I have been playing for about 25 years so I can strum a few tunes. Anyway I play acoustic and electric guitars and have been in a number of bands. I am currently developing a solo act but ...... have no qualms about finding a partner or 2 for a Basia project. I would like another guitarist either acoustic, or electric and a Bass player. I am working on a number of Basia tunes but my favorite right now is Perfect Mother. For some reason it sounds great either on my acoustic or the electric, my backup favorite is From now on which of course is done acoustically. I have a hard time singing it though. Anyway, I really enjoy playing Basia and will definately include her songs, as many as I can reasonably play and sing, in my solo, or hopefully duo or trio act. To Ashoke, I live in Elyria, and work in Oberlin. Grew up in Chardon. My brother graduated from Case in 1976. Sooooo if anyone knows anyone from Ohio, near Cleveland that wants to work on a Basia project, let me know, Richard from Ohio ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Aug 1998 10:44:11 -0400 From: "Ashoke S. I live in Cleveland Heights, go to school at Case and am thinking about buying a house in Chardon next year! Try that for coincidence. I think it's an Ohio thing. And I do believe that I can hold the tune for From Now On. Can't do (dub) all of the parts in the harmony though, at least not unless I surgically remove one layer of vocal chords first! Fisli" Subject: PW album, IL appearance, band name Hi all! Okay, here's news: Peter White's new album is entitled "A Perfect Day" and the projected release date will be October 20th. No, unfortunately, Basia does *not* have a guest appearance on this album (darnit). It looks more and more that I may be going to PW's Schaumberg IL (Woodfield Mall) appearance on August 13th. This will be an interesting experiment as I have a free standby airline ticket... Gawd knows when I'll arrive (but hopefully before my sister and mother come to O'Hare to pick me up!)... If anyone from the Chicago area is planning to go to this show, I'd love to meet up with you - if only briefly (because I will be with my mother and sis) - to say hello, well-met, and to put a face to the email name... And BTW, the "band" name? I have always liked the term "Basiamaniacs". It also brings to mind some sort of weird punk rock band. Can you just hear a thrash version of "Hug An Olive Tree"??? :D Yes, demented, I am... Also not in my right mind... When we all tour to promote this, can we use Herr Baker and "LipBOY" as battle props menacingly pointing light sabers at each other? Of course in the video, we simply have to include some of us doing a little head banging bit in the middle somewhere, at the end of which each head will roll off the shoulder, fall to the ground and grow into an olive tree with the owners image wrapped around the trunk. :-D Ashoke. ________________________________________________________________ Ashoke S. Anybody that holds it curved up over the top... why do you do that? How can you write (legibly) like that? Talk about writers cramp... > I do ASL (sign language), dial the phone, operate a calculator, and most other > "fine" adjustments with my right hand, but I write with my left hand. Go figure. Not so weird as you might think. Every lefty I know (and bothered to compair notes with) does a lot of things right handed... some do everything (but write) with the right hand. If I'm throwing something (not that I would throw y'all's packages at work... nope, not me), I need to use my left hand (I'm more accuarate with the left). If I need strength, I use the right one. But other than those 2 instances, I can use either hand. I might prefer one over the other, but I can use either one (except for scissors... can't cut worth beans with the left hand). Just for fun... go into your Paintbrush program and try using your right hand to sign your name. I tried that once and pathetic is the only word to describe it. I use my right hand for the mouse, I just can't use it to sign my name. > Thus, leftys are the only ones in the right minds." You got that right. We'd have less nuts in the world if everybody would just start using their left hand.
