Peter White was in England about two months ago and saw Ms. T.... He says she is cheerful and in typically good spirits, and "STILL" working on that next album project. He volunteered that to me, without my prompting him, so I think maybe he's getting used to me bugging him about Basia... I do what I can to find out whatever's going on with her, but I try not to be a pest about it... :) >the thought >keeps crossing my mind that the marriage of her musical partner may have >thrown a curve to her professional endeavors. As Peter tells me, Danny is usually the one "cracking the whip" - and it doesn't appear that his marriage has slowed him down in any way regarding music &tc... Things are "as usual" - meaning everything is moving, but moving rather slowly. No changes. The album is still "coming" but coming still at a snail's pace. I know this news doesn't brighten anyone's day (wish I had better news!), but so far it's the only news we have besides the discovery of the boxed set and the eagerly anticipated video project that Ben is working on... But I must caution you that in light of all of the people who found Ford/Chevy wars and discussions about alternate turntable speeds offensive, that posting ethnic-leaning jokes will not be well received by some of the people on this list (especially some of the Americans, who by my experience are the least tolerant of a good laugh). BTW I thought the joke was hilarious. This also simplifies modifying the program, should the value of pi change." - FORTRAN manual for Xerox computers ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Jul 1998 11:38:03 -0700 (MST) From: David Cervantes Subject: Re: HALF OFF TOPIC: audience interaction and on topic postings I've seen Miss T twice in concert, and each time she seemed pretty friendly, introducing her band, telling a little bit about her life and each song she sang. I wanted to hear more about her and loved her little speeches. I saw Kenny G in concert some years ago and was really surprised to hear him talk. He was very shy and I didn't really care what he said, but I'm sure plenty of other people were dying to hear his voice. Two years ago we saw Tom Jones and he said next to nothing, a big disappointment; my wife hoped he'd talk about life in Wales. The upshot is, I'd rather hear the performers say something about their life and work than not. #################### David Cervantes On Tue, 7 Jul 1998, Jeff Hamilton wrote: > > Personally, unless the artist in question is also one heck of a comedian, I > really prefer to just hear non-stop music for a solid two hours. It is true that she seemed much more loose and flowing on the TSI tour. However, the year before, when she played at the Orpheum in beautiful Boston, she was very playful with the audience. She responded to many of the shouts and even requests from the throng present. She seemed quite shy and coy. We were in the front row. She was radiant and beautiful. It was a night that I will never forget. I was thrilled with the intimacy of the event... ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V3 #137 ***************************
