Interestingly, in Basia's bio, it makes mention of Danny White's birthday (26 August 1959) but not Basia's birthday. Perhaps there is a long-winded conspiracy to keep me from ever finding this out. Perhaps I will have to take a plane to Poland and break into the Department of Vital Records. The bio also makes mention of a band she was in as a teenager, called Alibabki. Do any recordings (demos, boots, whatever) of performances by this group exist? Ditto for her second band, Perfect. For lack of any thing else new Basia-related, I guess I'll just read this press release over and over and over. I think considering vocal timbre, Sarah McLaclan has a voice somewhat similar to Basia. Nowhere near the same range. In fact I was thinking about a song by Sarah called Elsewhere and how immense an experience it would be to hear them sing it as a duet. That, after several months of thought, is the closest I have come to comparisons along this vein. The problem is that Basia has an AMAZING voice and she sings with a latin tinge in the music. Most of the songstesses with a Latin voice sound very different from her. But check out Sarah's "Fumbling Towards Ecstacy". If you like Basia, I can't see you NOT liking Sarah. If you send messages to the list that contain HTML or Microsoft's formatting information I'll return the message to you. 2) We also don't support binary attachments, as they tend to clog up the system and take extra space in the archives. If you do send an attachment, I'll return it to you with a note asking you to post your file on a web page and announce the location, or offer to mail it out directly to interested people. 3) Please don't forget that there's a real person behind each email address. I will not micro-manage this list--you all are on your own to keep this place civil. 4) In general, I don't permit people to sell things on lists I host (I'm forking out over $150/month to pay for smoe.org's connection to the internet and I don't care for people making money off of my hard work). I have made exceptions in the past, but given the trouble that recent sales have caused on this list, I must now ask that you do not offer any items for sale via this list.
