I did keyword searches for Sissel, only, and I was just on Amazon.com 2 days ago looking for her. Most all of her CD's/tapes are imports, FYI. BTW, I wrote to her a few months ago suggesting she do a straight jazz album, in the manner of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn. Maybe that's why she's in Philly (I hope, I hope, I hope). She first rose to fame after singing in the intermission at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1985 (or was it '86?) In Norway she has sold more than one million albums. Not bad for a country with 4.7 million inhabitants! If anyone would like to purchase Sissel albums, I could help you out. They're available in most shops here in Oslo. She has become somewhat a national 'icon' :-) Cheers, Anders - - a fellow viking ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Jun 1998 10:36:48 -0500 From: Larry Lipman Subject: Sound of palm slapping forehead! >I have found more of Sissel's albums in other Scandinavian shops, >and at Amazon.com, CDNow, CDEurope, and EveryCD. >Larry, >16 (16-2/3 was it?) was the old transcription speed. >It was used for radio shows. It was wonderful. I really would like to hear something like that again around here.(Buffalo) At the risk of aging myself, I DO personally remember wire recorders and I used to maintain quad video recorders. Things are much easier these days. Thanks for your wonderful answer to my rather harsh critic of Peter's Caravan. I had a couple more goes through the record and still have to admire it's extreme smooth production. Good Job there, definetely. The melodies are definetely hummable (I have to admit that I whistled CoD throughout the whole of North Wales), but still.... as an old Incognito devotee I have problems coming to terms to music that rather lounges around you than leave an impact (just like Basia's last two studio albums). When it comes to jazzy tunes I rather prefer Matt Bianco, Incognito, Mezzoforte or Basia's T&T . Thanks for the understanding, anyway... Larry, WHERE DO I GET TRANSCRIPTS OF THOSE RADIO MYSTERY THEATER SHOWS!!! I have the best memories of listening to Radio Mys from 10:30 to 11:30 on WBBM Radio here in Chicago. What a wonderful show! My whole family listened. And they used many well-known character actors, the likes of Howard DaSilva and Mercedes McCambridge to name a few. I would LOVE to hear them again.
