Basia has really nice vibrato. even at half speed. I discovered this once by not changing the speed of the turntable. tom ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jun 1998 22:30:29 -0400 From: Jeff Hamilton Subject: Re: 12" 45rpm half a minute At 07:23 PM 6/10/98 -0200, Tom Jordan wrote: >I have a 12" 45rpm of half a minute which is kind of fun to play at 33rpm. >Basia has really nice vibrato. even at half speed. I discovered this once by >not changing the speed of the turntable. (My mind is kind of wierd that way - the first thing I thought was "hey that's not half-speed, it's 74 percent!". But I'm working on being more of a human than a robot these days, so just ignore me if I do anything similar.) This brings back so many memories, all of the exact same thing. I was very little when I first started handling the stereo system in our house. And the day I discovered that some records used different speeds, I was in heaven. I think I spent about four years listening to everything at the wrong speed, just to get a good laugh. By the way, back then (I'm sure all of you OLDER people remember this) the turntables had four speed settings: 16, 33, 45, and 78. So much fun. I think I'm gonna do it right now. My first Basia muzak encounter was "New Day For You" in JC Penny's a few years ago. More often, I've heard the original songs. That's something about which I have mixed emotions. On one hand, it's always cool to hear basia's voice in public. On the other, it's like some people consider the original versions to be close enough to muzak without being muzak-ized. - -Brian* ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jun 1998 23:48:14 -0400 From: Jeff Hamilton Subject: Basia club?
