Basia and Danny were an "item" at one time - they have since gone their personally (but not musically) separate ways - Danny got married last year and he and his wife are expecting their first baby sometime later on this year. Basia, to my knowledge, is not married at the moment, but the fact is she was quite close to trumpeter Kevin Robinson. Not sure if that still holds true, since I haven't heard any real gossip "fit to holler" lately, but there ya go. Am looking forward with great anticipation to seeing the results! Can you make a list of what you have? I have recently come across some new (old) vids via PW and may have something to contribute (not sure what's on these tapes but if it's something you don't have I'd be very happy to provide a copy!). First I would like to say I am one of the most sincere fans there are! My daughter asks me why I enjoy listening to her so frequently (especially on CD in the car!). My answer is always her voice has pure love for singing and in turn, the listener can appreciate what the songs are conveying. When I heard Time & Tide in the 80's, I was incredibly happy to know someone has power & talent in their voice. She and Danny White represent what music is for! Feeling emotions with potent lyrics, dancing and rocking with percussion you can really get down with, and experiencing jazzy arrangements the surely entails talent without a doubt! This list is to communicate with others that have the same interest and should involve just chatter! We are naturally opinionated and love to say our thoughts.(As long as it is not hurtful to anyone). I joined since I wanted info on touring dates and such but I am thrilled that others like me who get it with Basia. An ex-friend of mine played drums many years ago and said there are clubs that play only BASIA!. I am not sure where they are but it's nice to know there are such places. My passion with singing creates an admiration for people like Basia. My tastes are wide-spread. For example, Pat Benetar-Linda Ronstadt(singing torch songs especially),Loreena Mckennit, Annie Lennox, Patsy Cline, and Tori Amos to mention a few. Groups like Aerosmith, Bad Company, Paul McCartney(Was with that, Oh!?, Oh Yeh-Beatles!(ha ha), Gypsy Kings(love that spanish guitar which is used in Basia music), Heart, and so many more. Music is a special expression and helps us all feel connected. Chatting on other subjects means we are connecting with an original topic such as Basia and we stem off from there. There is some chatter I feel completely lost with but maybe I'll learn something new! I am anxious as well for new stuff from Basia but to tell you the truth, I am really content with all the music of hers that I listen to now. I have not seen her in concert so I wish she would tour. I am sure she must be amazing to see her live and hear that penetrating-to-the-soul voice. Just Chatter! I Love the Tambourine! Tab Tab4muzic@aol.com "I'm lost in a painted desert. Too bad they stopped being an "item" and what an item they must have been. I have to make the following observation. For someone who has not been seen or heard in 3 years, it speaks immense volumes for the music that has more or less sustained itself till now. I know that fans like us have had a wee bit to do with it but the significant part is the work that is being kept alive by itself. This in light of the fact that I became a Basia fan way AFTER she disappeared into the depths of the EEC - I think that is incredible. Case in point, this is the 4th straight week with Basia on Broadway for me - haven't had the desire to listen to much else. There is some music that creates inexplicably strong impressions, and we should take heed to this because I think there is something there to learn about ourselves (should have known there was something wrong when, at the age of eight, I was listening to Gloria Gaynor and ABBA on the sly, but I digress). Back to Basia, I am actually a tad apprehensive of a new album BECAUSE of the immense impact of the previous work it will have to live up to AND better. Take Natalie Merchant - personally I think that she needs the remaing 9,999 maniacs to complete the picture. One way or the other, I will be one of the first in line, should there be a new album, and I will sign away my existentially doubtful first-born to see her live in concert. But for the time being, I really am yearning no more for new music from her. Need time to completely digest what's already out there. 'Nuff babble.
