I always thought those were the same thing, but now I know better. Seriously, though... I got my hands on the "Indigo" album the other day - there doesn't seem to be any Basia on it ("stealth Basia" perhaps? not a chance - the album isn't nearly all that good). The awesome track, of course, is the one produced by Emilio Estefan (who has done some excellent production on some excellent Gloria albums, BTW - small note to all gloria haters, lol). The other tracks are listenable, except "Wap Bam Boogie" is really ridiculous. Basia should do like Stevie Wonder did back in early 1976 - go around town wearing a shirt that says "The album isn't done yet". That is, if she's even working on one :( My ultimate 10-track "Basia's Best" CD... "Run For Cover" "Ordinary People" "Give Me That" "Yearning" "New Day For You" "Take Him Back Rachel" "An Olive Tree" "Dzien Sie Budzi" "Copernicus" "More Fire Than Flame" Not that the other songs aren't great or anything. This list would probably be totally different ten days from now. (Well, "Olive Tree" will always be my favorite song. Except for that time when it was "Ordinary People". Or before that when it was "More Fire Than Flame". And once it was "Time And Tide"...) If she doesn't come up with an album soon, this could very well become antiquecomputers@smoe.org or something... Maybe she's trying to show Michael Jackson how it's done (1982 - 1987 / gap between "Thriller" and "Bad")... "Dzien Sie Budzi" I thought after sitting here over the last month reading it was time for me to say something. I guess I am amazed as to how low key her management company is. A publicist is supposed to keep your image alive in the eyes of the fans. At least when we hear about her working on a new project it should be coming from her manager not Peter White. It should be official. I am going to try to find out who her manager or management company is and see if I can get the official word. I can understand if nothing is coming from her directly, after all she is entitled to her own privacy. However that being said, I don't even hear anything from the local smooth jazz station here in NYC CD 101.9. Pat Prescott who does the morning show here, and I do mean morning (5:30AM) has guests like David Sanborn, George Benson, Bony James , etc., on her show live. She also mentions things like Peter WHite is coming out with a new cd in the Fall. I would have thought that if Basia was working on a new project something would have been said. I just don't understand the Stealth Marking techniques. We, the fans can't get more juiced up then we are. If she is working on a new one than at least let it come out officially to give the fans something to anticipate. The longer she waits, the more embarrassment in the discussion. Forgive me but I'm just Pisxed. That's not a spelling error. This is a family show. Now that I said my peace, let me go back to sleep. But you can never have too many prisons, considering the number of people who seem not to care about the law anymore... And as one who has witnessed the overcrowding in prisons I can say that we SHOULD have more. The question is what kind of prisons should we have? I knew a guy who got sent to a prison for one year for DUI. He went to a big-time prison where the rapists and murderers went. He said it wasn't bad, but shouldn't he have been sent to a different kind of institution? I know we're kind of down on driving drunk these days, and we should be, but you can't lump all kinds of criminals together... Sorry. This is another subject I have strong feelings on. While I am very much on the side of law and order and I want to see criminals punished (don't get me started on the death penalty) I also know that we can't just keep stacking people away in already crowded, usually filthy and run-down prisions. Be harsh, be firm, but don't be cruel. Coming down off my soapbox... Oh Bruce it was a sorry attempt at irony, and not to get another non-Basia related thread going here (tho what crimes she and her management might be convicted of commiting I would dare not speculate, beyond Criminal Dereliction of Fan-Stroking). And besides, what if, say, 100,000 fans attended her live shows during the last tour. Had urine tests been run on everyone (including her band AND herself) the findings would have resulted in the need to construct a dozen or so new prisons in the US alone to house the 50,000 new criminals our already over-taxed judicial system would have to process. Bob's crime is to have been caught between two warring industries - the illicit dispensers of "controlled" substances and the DEA. Both have their market share, but only the latter is subsidized by Wall Street. Phil ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Jun 1998 20:45:05 -0000 From: "Phil Hall" Subject: Re: Good-bye all!!
