Actually, that was also the primary reason I purchased the TSI sheet music, for the 9 x 12 cover artwork. I wanted Roach's 24 x 36 TSI poster so badly but someone beat me to it. I'm the person who came up with some ideas for the covers/cd label for the Basia Video Project. The URL's are: Cover: http://basia.techwood.org/pics/BasiaCoverSpec.jpg CD Label: http://basia.techwood.org/pics/basiacdlabel.jpg You'll note on both of them that I have slots for 6 pictures on each of them. When I did them, I captured a few shots off of (what was then) about 4-5 videos and the screen shots Ben had available elsewhere on BasiaWeb. What I'm proposing (with Ben's approval) that in keeping with the openness of this project that you all can recommend particular screen shots from the current round of RealVideo clips that are up on Ben's BasiaWeb site. If you wish to participate, please send me: Clip Name and "Timestamp" from Real Player. Then I can run the video from my end, screen capture and place them on the labels/covers. Thematically, I'm planning to do the photos chronologically --- from her earliest to the 1994 "Yearning". Also, I've got space for about 12 shots. I look forward to hearing about everyone's favorites. -- Beverly Martin - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -=> Visit The all New *LEGENDS* APA site!!! <=- http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/9049/Legends.html FEATURING THE ONE AND ONLY SUGAR AND SPIKE WEBSITE ON THE WHOLE BLASTED INTERNET THINGIE!!! http://home.earthlink.net/~beej_martin/SandSMain.html AND MY OLD "STAND-BYS" AT: http://home.earthlink.net/~beej_martin/index.html http://home.earthlink.net/~beej_martin/graphics.html http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/9049/twice1.html (12/29/97) - -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* "Now the internet has all these people who are sitting around typing one-handed, and they're illiterates! I am trying to track down that 3rd Time Lucky track for a very specific reason. I can use the two versions (release and alternate) instructionally to demonstrate different approaches by the same artist to the same song. (That's not denying that as an avid fan, I want the material for my own personal enjoyment! I do! I do! I do!) But, kindly allow me to CYA and make it very clear that I do not support any move to place full-length, commercially-released, commercially-available Basia recordings onto to the web for illegal distribution in violation of copyright! (Sheeze....I should have been a lawyer!) By the way....does anyone know how much deeper the ocean would be if there were no sponges? Ciao! You've triggered feelings from way back in me. For some reason I was enchanted to type "Basia" at the yahoo prompt and search for it. I stumbled upon this list only a few short days ago. I haven't heard any Basia songs in over 2 years. The memories of "The sweetest illusion" CD are still sitting very deeply inside of me. T&T came out at a very happy end of college studies time for me. Yet, T.S.I. came at a very intense, yet sad time of my life. I have spent the time since writing my feelings down in songs. Though, I'm not a full-time musician, I think the result isn't too bad, at least most of my friends think so. If anyone is interested, follow the link to www.samsmusic.ch and select the "TENTALES" album. The are a few excepts available via RealAudio. You'll have to download the .ram files first and then play them. Our ISP, doesn't support streams just yet. Apart from Alan Parsons, Queen, and various Blues artists, I've had strong influences from Basia's work. In particular, her effort to write beautiful lyrics and wonderful harmonies into her songs. Looking at the pop-charts these days, shows how bland the general publics taste of music has become. My endeavour to enhance the CD with nice artwork, was inspired by Basia's album covers. I've made an effort to make an instrumental (meaning, not synthi) album with various vocal and non-vocal tracks interleaved, integrating element of classical music, by using Cellos, Violins, Oboes and Accustic Guitars. Unfortunately, I haven't found any distribution deal yet, so you can't buy anywhere, except directly from me and my co-producer Mike Turtle at samsmusic.ch I'd appreciate any honest comments about the music. In the meantime, Meg, has renewed my passion for Basia's music. I just dl'ed the Yearning Video from the web, and I think I'll listen to T.S.I tonight in full! Thanks Meg, for sharing your insights with the people on this list. You certainly sound like a warm hearted person with a deep soul. ciao Mike. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Apr 1998 17:21:00 +0200 (MET DST) From: Anders Hamre Subject: Re: Third Time Lucky Larry, With regard to the copyright issue, I've decided to make the page with clips password-protected. This means only members of the list will have access to the files, and I'll change the password periodically. For many fans it's impossible to get hold of these rare recordings, so this might be the only way. It's not as bad as duplicating CDs, even better than recording CDs onto a tape in my opinon. Playing back the files requires a computer, software and hardware, so the illegal spreading would be very limited. Besides, most of the people on the list are responsible, honest adults, so I doubt anyone will use the clips in other aspects than for personal enjoyment. Furthermore, if the CDs in question would have been more easily available, trusty fans like us would have bought them anyway. I know I would have. If anyone is offended by these issues, please tell me, and I'll consider not creating the page after all. Remember I'm just offering to do this to give all Basians a chance to hear her work, not to promote illegal copying of copyrighted material.
