Fisli" Subject: PW CD's, Basia CD's in Japan, &tc Hi there everyone! Peter's CD's can be ordered on the internet through CD NOW at http://www.cdnow.com. I hope this helps our French friend (bonjour, Frederic!). :) There is another music store that mailorders internationally - I think it's in Scotland - not sure of the name or the phone, have lost that info - anybody out there able to help? I had an inquiry from a friend looking for a place in Japan to find Basia's "Angels Blush" - a *physical* place... It appears that her daughter is going there on a seminar from school and so she thought she'd capitalize on an opportunity. Are there any suggestions as to a music store chain? I'm not sure WHERE this gal is going - Tokyo, perhaps. Does she have a chance to find something? Peter White is working on a new album right now. Chances are it will be released at the end of summer or early fall (on the Columbia label). I sent a message to the list that apparently got lost in cyberspace - so I will repeat it now: One of the most fascinating (to me, anyhow) is Basia's song "Yearning" - it is beautifully written and arranged and really speaks to me... I typed those words in answer to an email I received from Denis (with one "N") - and it raised in me a question that I thought I'd put out to the rest of you folks... Here's something to discuss or at least to wake us all up a little bit... What is the Basia song that speaks to YOU? Which song(s) do you identify with? Which song(s) bring you to another time, another place... And musically, if you are musicians, which songs strike a chord in you? Just a few thoughts to start some discussion. :) Have at it! :) TTFN! --Di. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ "...There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats..." --Albert Schweitzer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ CAUTION - http://musicats.com - asylum for the terminally BENT, home for wayward musicians, free web art, and a fairly cluttered attic full of oddities (i.e., ME!). ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 20:50:12 EDT From: Samurai27 Subject: Re: PW CD's, Basia CD's in Japan, &tc Hi All. Well there are a number songs that I really like; Baby your mine, Promises, and Copericus. The one that speaks to me is Many miles away (I know I got that one wrong) You know which one I mean. Its on Time and Tide. It really tells me much about Basia. She is a very simple person (Not mentally simple) who enjoys the natural things. She wants to leave the noise of the city and move to the country many miles away. She probably has a home in the UK countryside. The video "Cruisen for a brusin" is the perfect example. She is in a country house standing in the doorway. its simply beautiful. I spend alot of time in my car each day driving to work (146 miles roundtrip) and I play and play Basia's cds over and over again. I really never get tired of her sounds. I suggested to Di that maybe Basia should do more covers and less originals then she would publish more cds. I suggested Burt Bacharach, or maybe Stevie Wonder songs. Well have to go for now. Still waiting for Basia to return my mail. I sent four letters over the last six months. Take care. I suggested Burt Bacharach, or Burt would be a great vehicle, but as she was not included in the Tribute broadcast last week on TNT I spose we are delegated to the vast minority here, eh?
