I suppose I could get my French-English dictionary out and try, but it would be easier if someone who is more fluent could take on the challenge! First, he's sorry for writing in French. I think Alta Vista translates the list into French for him so he's not even reading us in English. He's writing because we're discussing French language pop-jazz artists. In France, no one has heard of Isabelle Antena, however, he went to the Virgin Megastore and found some expensive Japanese Imports of hers (except for a very old album - I'm not sure if the old album wasn't expensive or wasn't an import). If we're looking for "Basia like" french music, he advises us to try the second Liane Foly album which is very popular in France. I think, after this album, she changed her entire team (writers?) and she now has a Funk sound. He also recommends someone female named Nelson who did a duet with Gino Vannelli. Then, I think he goes on to request that any Basia fans who know french write to him because there aren't many fans in France. Matt Bianco's album isn't available in France and Peter White's albums can't be found there either. He thanks everyone, particularly Ben and Diane for all the info they provide. He also hopes to read more messages from us. Note from me - I finally went to Japan and got my Matt Bianco World Go Round CD. I haven't had a chance to really listen to it - sounds a bit more latin than the previous ones - it also contained remakes of A Day in Your Life and Lost in You. Unfortunately, I hadn't heard of Isabelle Antena - otherwise I would have bought a few while in Japan! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Apr 1998 20:43:14 EDT From: STeknology Subject: Isabelle Antena: If anyone is interested.. I searched for her using "Web Ferret" (which is a great FREE program!) and came up with a place to buy a couple of her CDs/tapes. I know the address is long, perhaps you can shorten it with just www.cdnow.com, then do a search. GOOD LUCK!
