I downloaded RealPlayer yesterday and began viewing the Basia video clips. Question - Is there a way to increase the video resolution on these? Most of us are probably downloading them first (if you have a slow Internet connection like I do), so a somewhat larger file size would not be a problem. - --Bob ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Apr 1998 07:35:15 -0700 From: Robert Merchant Subject: RE: Isabelle Antena Sorry everyone. I didn't mean to send this message to the Basia list, just to Steve Mak. Well, in preparation for the Yearning clip, I tried making a 80K/s RealVideo version which had a noticably faster frame rate, although the picture resolution was not improved much. But, the hard fact is that I don't have unlimited disk space on Eniac, the server basiaweb is on. BasiaWeb is currently right at 20 megabytes of material -- with the other video clips online, it will probably be near 30M, and that's about the limit for what I can put online. Of course, high resolution video clips are what the CD set is about. :) When we have 1.4G to play with, they'll look much better. - -- Benjamin L. This is a one of her best. Or you can try to order her best of CDs online. They are called "L'Alphabet du Plaisir", "Encore plus au Sud". Or give me your mailing address I can send you a tape. No, I have never seen her live or on TV or her music videos. She is so unknown even French people doesn't know who she is. But apparently she is quite known in Japan. Other artist that I enjoy that are in the same style are. "Swing Out Sister's - Kaleidoscope World", "Louis Philippe's - Jackie Girl", "Mono's - Formica Blues", "Laila Amezian's - Initial", "Stereolab's - Dots and Loops", "Everything but the Girl's - Eden", "Swing out sister's - Shapes & Patterns", "Joyce" (She is Brazilian). Hope this will enjoy these. Steve - ---------- From: Robert Merchant To: "'basia@smoe.org'" Subject: RE: Isabelle Antena Date: Sat, 18 Apr 1998 11:25:24 -0700 Steve, I would love the opportunity to listen to some of Isabelle's music other than the two CD's that I currently have (Hoping For Love, En Cavalle). It looks like I'll have to order her music from overseas (Europe or Japan), so any further advice would be appreciated, especially which CD's to order next. If you can easily make a cassette tape of her music from several of her albums that would be great! Do you know of any web sites devoted to her music? She is mentioned briefly on a couple of sites, but that is all that I could find. Maybe we could start one. Have you ever talked to her by e-mail or have you seen her live? I haven't. I don't even know if she is still performing (I would gladly make a trip to Europe to see her perform). Also, can you point me to any other artists that play a similar type of music (European/French pop/jazz)? By the way, I don't make it out to Novato very often, but I'll let you know when I come out next. - --Bob > -----Original Message----- > From: Steve Mak [SMTP:stevemak@worldnet.att.net] > Sent: Thursday, April 09, 1998 11:01 PM > To: basia@smoe.org > Subject: RE: Isabelle Antena > > > > Hi Rob, > I have a lot of favourites from Isabelle.
