I was living in a somwhat remote are of West Central Pennsylvania (USA) when I heard Time & Tide on the radio. I was instantly hooked! It took a while to find out who the artist was (back announcing being what it is), and once I found out it took even longer to find the album. I eventually found it at a record shop about an hour away from my town. But all the way home, I listened to Basia and kept rewinding to listen to T&T! Now I live in Upstate NY and wish that Basia would come to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center next summer. She'd find out just how many Jazz fans there were in these parts! Quality looked pretty good on that, but I'll probably redo the output tonight because my sound level was too low. I'll also try to grab some of the more interesting frames from the video for BasiaWeb. It has a lot of behind-the-scenes footage from the TSI tour, probably an early show. Kevin, once I get the sound problems corrected, your tape will be in the mail (Priority Mail, not UPS) back to you. BTW, Basia site webmasters... I've registered a Basia webring with webring.org. This is a way to link together sites with similar topics - -- each site has links to the previous and next ones, so once you find one Basia page, you can get to them all. I'll try to set up the ring start page today so we can start getting all of these linked up. - -- Benjamin L. I've been a fan for years and saw her for the first time a few year's ago at London's Jazz cafe in Camden. I would love so see her again! I look foward to some good news! As for Basia coming to the UK. She presently resides there. According to sources she has a house in Biggen Hill, Kent. so would suggest that next weekend or so, you visit there, and walk around until you spot her hanging out her washing on the line, and ask the question we all want to know. *WHENS THE NEW ALBUM COMING OUT* bfn Bob R a Brit now residing in Paterson NJ may the swartz be with you ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Aug 1997 21:38:07 -0500 From: "Dennis J. Majewicz" Subject: Basia on the radio Hi all, This list is certainly getting quiet. Remember the days of 10 or more messages a day? I ran across the web page of a "Smooth FM" station in Syracuse, NY. They apparently just changed formats to the light jazz type of recordings. One unusual thing is that they post the several days' playlists on the site. Just out of curiousity I checked out a few days and they are playing a lot of the usual fare - Sade, Kenny G, David Sanborn, Earl Klugh, and Peter White (who seems to get a lot of airplay), but they also list a couple of tracks daily by Basia. This seems strange to me, since the (former) smooth jazz station in Buffalo would go weeks without playing her. Glad to see Central New York State appreciates great talent! Unfortunately, I'm too far away to listen. I still have my CD's to keep me happy, though. (Note to Dan Tartaglia - can you pick up WHCD-FM in Syracuse from Rochester? I don't know their frequency.) Anybody heard from Roach? He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. I thought he was due back in June... Best regrds to all, Dennis PS: Hey Di, I see Peter's Christmas CD is due out in late September. It'll be a Holly Jolly one :) - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis J.
