Well... Lots to say here - but first - HELLO to all the "newbies" and we're glad you're here! :) I also must say - BASIA IS THE BEST!!! (I am a mite biased, however!) (HA!) As a point of introduction, I am a friend of, and work for Peter White - who is Danny White's (older, cuter) (HA!) brother and a contemporary jazz guitarist of some note. Danny, of course, is Basia's musical partner, and brother Peter and his guitar are on all her albums and were on all her tours except the Time & Tide tour. Something everyone might want to know is that I have posted a new (well, old, but new to publication on the web) photo of Basia on Peter's website. The URL is: http://peterwhite.com/pwweb85.htm It's attached to and helps illustrate an interview from 1994. The photo is from the 1994 "Sweetest Illusion" tour, taken by me at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles CA. Also if you page down there is a small White family photo that was published in the "London, Warsaw, New York" tour book. For the benefit of those who don't know this already, other photos concerning Basia and Danny are to be found on the photo archives page at: http://peterwhite.com/pwweb4.htm The Basia-related photos are evident from the titles (you can click on the titles to view photos). IF anyone is patient enough to wait for all the thumbnail gallery photos to load (there are 61!)(no, SORRY, not all of Basia), you can check out: http://peterwhite.com/photogal.htm Direct URL's to Basia-related photos are: http://peterwhite.com/pwweb29.htm http://peterwhite.com/pwweb30.htm http://peterwhite.com/pwweb31.htm http://peterwhite.com/pwweb57.htm http://peterwhite.com/pwweb69.htm http://peterwhite.com/pwweb70.htm http://peterwhite.com/pwweb73.htm Also there is a small White family photo (one that was printed in the SI tourbook) and an amusing story about how Peter got connected up with Basia at: http://peterwhite.com/pwweb2.htm That's his (auto)bio... :) If you want to learn more about Peter White, then just start at the beginning of his website - be warned however, it's HUGE!!! (I just have too much fun putting it together!) If you want to see a photo of sillyoldME (can't imagine you would, but just in case) (HA!) with Peter, it's at: http://peterwhite.com/pwweb62.htm Well, that's about all the news that's fit to holler. :) TTFN! --Di. Forgot to mention: Because Basia sang the song "Just Another Day" for Peter's new album (Caravan of Dreams, Columbia), there is a promo radio single out - and a photo of the cover - including a tiny shot of Basia - at the URL: http://peterwhite.com/pwweb82.htm It's down at the bottom of the page. :) TTFN! - --Di. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper. -Eden Phillpotts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Jul 1997 13:08:41 -0400 (EDT) From: JK25471@aol.com Subject: Newbie Hello everyone. Another newbie introduction. My name is Jackie and I live in Cleveland Ohio (USA). I became a Basia fan in 1989/1990. I first heard a Basia song while Jazzercising (aerobics). We did routines to a couple Basia songs. I liked the songs so much that I went out and bought Time and Tide and was a fan from that moment on. I have been to 2 or 3 Basia concerts and absolutely loved each one. Like everyone else on this list I would love to see her in concert again and yes, even would like to hear a new CD :o) Jackie ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 01 Jul 1997 20:04:54 -0400 From: rrumsby Subject: Re: Newbie JK25471@aol.com wrote: > Hello everyone. Oh that's right.. I had forgotten! I was out of town that week on a family trip I absolutely couldn't reschedule :( I guess I had blocked it out! I was unaware that you were in the Boston area until this message from Kathie. I also was at the Harborlights performance and agree that was a real corker of a show. Gee, the opening act that night was Spyro Gyra and even though they only played for 45 minutes, they really got the audience rocking. Then, when Basia came on and the first thing we heard was that lovely violin intro to "Sweetest Illusion", I can remember getting the chills and looking around to see how the rest of the audience would respond. I attended that show with three other "casual" Basia fans. By the end of the show, they too were hooked. Also, you may remember, that was Danny's birthday, and the band sang "Happy birthday" to him. Yes, that was a night to remember forever. Anyway, I am from Salem, NH, and work for Sun Microsystems in Chelmsford. I am also a big fan of Enya, Sade, Swing Out Sister, October Project(sadly, now broken up), the Corrs(a great!, vastly underrated Irish band). Since there are several (well, three at least) of us in the Boston area, we should get togther and go see a show and swap tales of our Basia related experiences. Let me know what you think.
