I saw the show in Tampa a few months ago, without even knowing who PW is (except from what I heard on this list)... since then I've bought 7 CDs (1 of them 3x). Go... you won't regret it... those guys are great. You can tell that they geniunely like each other, and each one's got just as much talent as the next. Go, go, go... for $3 you can't lose (unless they only play 2 songs... but it would still be worth it). BTW - Diane... I was in the mall last week and heard Peter playing in the mall's backgroud muzak. You can tell him... he's now ARRIVED! :-) Jacki ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jun 1997 12:58:49 -0700 (PDT) From: "Diane F. It's great that they can do this kind of show and get along and have FUN with it on top of everything else - This is just what the "smooth jazz" or contemporary jazz scene is all about - everyone is just so happy to be out there and they enjoy working with everybody else because it's a learning experience as well as just a whole lot of fun JAMMING with a bunch of great musicians! Glad you had a great time! > I would encourage >anybody here to see the show if you get the opportunity. You won't be >dissappointed. This is the third year for the G&S show - First year it was Peter, Richard Elliot, Craig Chaquico, and Warren Hill. Second year it was Peter, Rick Braun, Marc Antoine, and Kirk Whalum. Even with the demanding schedule, Peter is glad to be doing this show again, and he is enjoying it all the more... > They were all very approachable, too. All of them hung around >after the show and signed autographs and spoke to the fans. I got the >chance to speak briefly to Peter, but there were so many people that >it was all too quick. Yeah, that's the bad thing about it - not really enough time - but if you go to the autograph line early it might be easier to say something - people at the end sometimes get rushed through because they might have a schedule to keep or it might just be an early morning and the manager might want to get "the boys" back to the hotel for some NEEDED SLEEP... > Diane, I told him I knew you through the 'net >and he seemed amused. He hears this from so many people! He gets such a kick out of it! The "magic" of the internet fascinates him. :) > When I told him of the Basia mail list, he was >very surprised and said, "Basia has a mail list?" Well, I explained >she wasn't actually on it and what that was about. I've explained this list to him before; he must have forgotten. And yes, he is really pleased that she sang on his song "Just Another Day" - It's been getting airplay on KTWV here, so it's nice to turn on the radio and hear both Peter AND Basia... :) > Diane, you were right about Craig Chaquico. He is amazing. I >didn't know he came from Jefferson Starship. I guess I have heard his >work before. Every time I see Craig I like him more and more... His "A Thousand Pictures" CD has a CD-ROM on it, which is kinda cool. That particular day you can get in >to Summerfest all day and night just for wearing a Summerfest '97 Pin >(costing a mere $3), and the music stages are all free. What a great >bargain! GAWD I love outdoor summer music fests!!! How cool!!! :) >> They were all very approachable, too. All of them hung around >> after the show and signed autographs and spoke to the fans. I got the >> chance to speak briefly to Peter, but there were so many people that >> it was all too quick. > >Hopefully they'll do the same at Summerfest, too, but with the concert >being so late, they might be too tired to do so. As they don't have anything (as of yet) on the schedule after that date for about two weeks, they will be free to hang around afterwards - you also might be able to find some of them before the show - Peter likes to wander around the audience beforehand if he has the chance - and since it is a FESTIVAL they might just be there wandering around the fair before they have to set up and go to work! >Does anyone know if Basia knows there's this mail list? I'd imagine Basia knows about this list through her son Nicholas, who subscribes! :) Denis ("with one n") wanted to know if Basia has email. I don't think so. If you want to write to her snailmail, her address is: Basia P.O. Box 9 Biggin Hill Westerham, Kent TN 16 3UR ENGLAND Can't guarantee a response but you can try... And of course, if you're interested in writing to Danny or any band members, you can write c/o this address... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Diane F.
