I got my non-linear editing setup going nicely after a few mistakes. For my first try, I got the Basia appearance from Leno in 1990 doing "Baby You're Mine". It turned out OK... I started with a still frame of the album cover plus some text that describes the clip - -- song title, show, date. Then, that fades to the clip which fades back to black at the end. I started capturing the T&T era videos tonight. These are going to be a bit problematic. Time-base problems plague the dubs I have, so we get a little picture loss on the sides. However, the digitize and output process should create a master with few time base problems. The audio is pretty good -- I got to check my levels a little, but that should be no problem. I might try using a bit of black border to reduce the sheering effects at the top of the frames. Plus, the opening graphic has been re-rendered and looks stunning. The purple background I was using before gave me purity problems on video tape, so I've replaced it with a mostly black starfield that works a bit better. Grabbing single frames from the AVI files isn't as easy as I had planned, so that part will wait for now. I also need to grab a couple more SVHS master tapes -- I'm going to try to run off three copies directly from the computer -- one gold master, and two to use for duplication. - -- Benjamin L. This will really be a treat for all of us. However, I am wondering - are you working in NTSC and if so, will you be able to create transfers to PAL without signifigant losses? Furthermore, how do you plan to distribute the tapes? If you're intending to send copies to anyone interested (of course for a fee), sign me up right now! Have a nice summer, everyone! I've heard that you have to store them on edge, which I do, and away from your electronics. I think I might build a lead closet, too. Well, I'm working off second or third generation VHS tapes here. ken Drew made me a dub of the T&T clips from his master tape, but he might have made his master from someone else's. Picture quality is poor -- a lot of area looked washed out, although playing with the brightness, contrast, and chroma controls on the capture helped a lot. - -- Benjamin L. Yes, I am working in NTSC. Almost all of my source material is in that format, and I don't have any decks at home that will handle PAL. As for transferring to PAL... I'm hopeful that I can do a SVHS to SVHS conversion once it is finished, but I don't think my friend's shop has a multistandard SVHS deck. > Furthermore, how do you plan to distribute the tapes? I've got a few list members who were willing to help in a tape tree -- you'd send a video tape to one of us, and we'd dub from our master tape. If you are interested in helping with this and have either a SVHS or a 3/4" U-matic play deck and a VHS record deck, please let me know. - -- Benjamin L. Hey, what's a guy got to do to sign up and get a copy of this video. I'm a die-hard fan who has all her CD's and tapes and would very much like to get a copy of the video when it's available. Throwing some gas on the fire: When is this singer going on tour again and will Pittsburgh be on the destination tour????
