Yes, I am back from the Renaissance Faire... A weekend or so of "debauchery" in the freewheeling 1600's does this girl a lot of good - but then I have to rest up from it! ;) Dennis observed: > It's interesting. She is definitely not the world's most popular >(or prolific!) artist, but she seems to have touched us all in a special way. I happen to like someone who gets INTO her songs and her singing like Basia. Her wonderful voice appeals to me as well (mostly sung in an octave I can manage to inexpertly bellow along to!)(HA!)... And I, like supposedly Chopin (in "Copernicus") would, dig samba... :) I think the song I enjoy the most is "Time And Tide" - Basia really WAILS on that one, and I LOVE it!!! However it is really difficult to mention that without mentioning "From Now On" (for Peter White's guitar), "Copernicus" (for the breathless speed and marvelous lyric), the loveliness of "Yearning", etc, etc, etc... I could go on for EACH SONG... There's hardly a stinker in the bunch! Dennis also mentions: > In a slightly different vein, I saw in tonight's newspaper that >Guitars, Saxes and More is making a stop locally in June. >Hope to get the >chance to meet and talk to PW. Peter and the rest of the G&S&M musicians usually end the evening by coming out after the show to the table where merchandise (albums &tc) is being sold, to autograph and "meet and greet"... SO you should have an opportunity to meet Peter. (bring your autographables!) If you happen to spot PW before the show (sometimes he wanders about beforehand talking to people who recognize him), don't be shy, approach him! Tell him you know me from the internet, he'll get a kick out of that! (heh!) You will like Rick Braun (the "and More" trumpeter), I just recently described him to someone as, "Herb Alpert with an ATTITUDE"... I know I'm a mite biased here, but I think Rick and Peter should both be selling out 20,000 seat arenas - maybe someday - but then again, the sheer power of being in a small room (such as the 500+ capacity Coach House in Capistrano) is AMAZING... >Any possibility you're coming up this >way, too, Di? I'll buy dinner! Much as I hate to turn down such a nice invitation (thank you!), I will NOT :( be coming to New York for any shows... Fair warning tho, I'll take a rain check! :) I don't do too much traveling, particularly with this bunch - I just go to whatever's handy - usually the ones closest to home like San Diego, L.A., etc... Since this is not entirely Peter's show, I can't always be guaranteed that there will be a ticket available for me... This time management is not allowing me to take photos, so I am out there, as well (no photos on PW's website of G&S&M, darnit!)... I am in the midst of working out details with a web reseller program - I am getting a virtual domain of my own and will be hopefully putting together some new websites for people... It should be an interesting venture - hopefully one that will actually begin to pay for itself after a while... :) Wish me luck!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Diane F.
