I was lucky enough to have been at that Arsenio taping - and Basia was still a little under the weather - and doing one or two songs is not the same as doing two hours when you are sick (she was a little out of breath after singing)... I think she had a light touch of bronchitis, and I suppose didn't want to be coughing at the audience all night! It was also probably a case of "opportunity knocks" - Arsenio was interested in having her on the show (and who wouldn't be???) and it just so happens that she was able to appear... Didn't she also cancel Santa Barbara CA, that tour? In light of how much travelling I do these days, I am somewhat mortified that I did not see her in Irvine - just in L.A. - during this tour... I bought tickets to the Greek (L.A.) and probably did not have the moolah to get tix for Irvine - and then after the fact Peter White tells me he could have gotten me in for free! Oh well!!! In case any of you are wondering, living in L.A. and having the connection (PW) I do to Basia, I still bought tickets - because - PW, as a member of the band, is only alloted a certain amount of complimentary tickets. L.A. is a TOUGH town for tickets simply because Peter lives here and EVERYBODY HE KNOWS wants free tix into the show. I bought tix because I *knew* I couldn't rely upon his good graces for tickets because there were others that were a teensy bit more important than me (such as his wife!) on his list... I *did* get into the backstage party at the Greek, but it was a total madhouse (everybody who was anybody - or had a good line of BS like me - was crammed into a very small space) and Basia and Danny were very busy with interviews & such on the other side of the Theatre and did not do a meet and greet... :( Bill observes: > There seems to be an overwhelming preoccupation with when the next release is >coming. I'm with you, Bill! However I also know that things are not progressing as fast as they might if Basia and Danny were still HUNGRY... :) Bill also says: >I had the >priveledge of seeing her at Harborlights in Boston a couple of years ago and I >was astonished at the level of emotion she conveyed to the crowd. When she sings (in "Copernicus") about Poland being "...where people's hearts are filled with passion..." I think that's quite telling of the way she looks at life. I also think she is truly grateful (and not hung up about showing it) that people like us are out here clamoring for more... :) TTFN! --Di. I wasn't annoyed anymore when she rescheduled the show here. At least then I knew she would be here soon. I only hope to see her again here in Phoenix and on Rosie O'Donnell and all those other shows promoting her new album in '98! :) Becky _______________________________________________________________________________ Subject: Re: Basia, who else? :) From: dff@peterwhite.com@INTERNET at #EMAIL Date: 5/29/97 3:21 PM Becky wrote: >I was rather annoyed that she cancelled, then I tune in to Arsenio >and there she is singin' her heart out... oh well.
