She comes across as very polite, down-to-earth, and genuine. It also amazes me how well she can speak English, which obviously is not her native language. As for what to write to her, I personally would love to compliment her on how she comes across (see above). Songs like "Simple Pleasures" where she penned the lyrics "there is something much more real i'm after--simple pleasure--bliss i finally found in ordinary home-made treasures on familiar ground" only reinforce my notion of her as being a modest, unassuming person. Compare that to the "Material Girl" sentiment espoused by Madonna, and there's a big difference! Do you remember what you said in your initial letter that prompted her 2-page response? But 1989 is quite a while ago, so that "Time and Tide" address may no longer be valid.
