Lohr) Subject: Hello everyone... Howdy, folks. Now, before I depart for my trip, I want to get you guys up to date on some stuff: 1) As many of you have probably already noticed, the homepage is down. And it will stay down until we find a new server, which should be any day now. We've had it with AOL... and since the new Basia page is now almost 10 megs big and comprised of nearly 400 files, we didn't want to have to start things over from scratch by having to upload each file one at a time (see, AOL doesn't support FTPing, so it would be like a 6 hour process to get it up and running). I will be gone by the time the new server is chosen, but one of my confidants here at home will be putting the page up the minute we get access and will inform the list, probably via my account, of where to go and what to expect. Note: THE AOL SITE IS NO LONGER VALID, AND I'M AWARE OF THIS. PLEASE STOP WRITING ME TELLING ME ITS DOWN!!! The http://users.aol.com/basiapage/basia.htm site is no longer working and will never work again at that location. So, if you have a link to the page, you might want to freeze it or delete it until the new site is chosen. BTW, for those of you who are curious about the Agitprop page, it is also moving to our new server but it will remain active until we move. 2) I have finally found a copy of the ESK-1276 promo CD. Therefore, I am ready to reveal MOST if not ALL of my sources for Basia stuff (12", rare CDs, etc.), both Internet and s-mail based. BUT I won't be posting these locations to the list... if you want to know where you can find a certain CD or other item (like the "Angels Blush" Japanese CD with "Waters of March" on it, for example), email me DIRECTLY and I will tell you where you can find it. DO IT QUICKLY, though, since I am leaving in a few days. Once gone, I will only be checking my mail every so often and probably won't be getting back to anyone until I get back in June. Plus, most of these places have a limited stock of items so I'm sure you won't want someone to beat you to the punch. Remember, try to be specific with what you're looking for. 3) Nothing personal, Ben, but WHERE'S THE F**KING VIDEO TAPE!?!!??!?!?! I could've FILMED the damn videos in less time than this. Its been almost a year, I think, since the idea was originally introduced. We really need to get on the ball with this. People have waited long enough, don't you think? I think that's it. Toodles for now. JSL. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Mar 1997 18:35:53 EST From: roach2@juno.com (J.S. Thanks for getting my attention here. The status of the video project: For the last month, I've been on a business trip to south Florida, far away from my video equipment. I'll be returning home this week. For the last few months, my life has been very hectic with me doing a lot of travel, both for business and for personal reasons. I did manage to get all the footage dubbed over to a master Hi-8 reel, but when I assembled this to SVHS tape, it ended up looking pretty bad because of the extra generation so I'm going to regenerate the master using the original tapes. The transitions will not be as smooth, but the quality of the footage will improve. The Matt Bianco stuff isn't going to look that great. I'm already working off a dub of the PAL VHS tape, so the conversion to NTSC SVHS will take it down another generation. Three generations off VHS is pretty bad. This will be done soon. I'm blocking off three nights once I get back to Austin right now to do nothing but work on the video. I'll try to get my master time sheet/edit decision sheet uploaded to the status page too. Video editing can take a lot of time -- plus, I've got two other projects I'm editing -- a public access show on RPGs and a short film called Buck. But, thanks Jeff for getting my attention again. I will get this out as soon as possible. I'm sorry to all the contributors for the delays I've put you through. - -- Benjamin L. I bought the edition of the SUN that blared out it's changed stance (from Tory to Labour) and Lo! found the page three naked chick. And I'd been reading the Telegraph up to that point only because it was given out at breakfast by my hotel. I had been missing the essence of London because I was so cheap. Its been that *look* for the past 2 years. On Tuesday morning (hours before our flight out) my wife and I strolled into the Liverpool Station area for a last chance to get rid of some pounds. It was misting (the weather had been fabulous all week, but this was terrific) and a fetching couple (a tall, long-haired she on the left, a rather dapper fellow on her right arm) ambled under a shared umbrella before us. It was entrancing, and I wished out loud that I had brought my camera, and to my surprise my wife agreed. > > Did you do the noramal touristy things, like go to the > Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Traffalgor Square, National > Gallery etc., > Every one of those and The War Rooms, Picadilly and Leicester Sq., St. Paul's Cathedral (surprisingly magnificently enjoyable and I don't go to church), Hyde Park Speaker's Corner, Whitehall, Blackfriar's, Royal Shakespeare Co. at Barbican Centre ('As You Like It'), also 'The Mousetrap', (perf 18,442), plus outings to Kew Gardens and Brighton. Saturday morning we did Portobello Road (George Orwell's stomping ground - awfully cool!). I won't get over it for a while, Bob.
