Biggin Hill, besides being the "home" address for Basia's office is actually a place with quite a bit of history - during World War Two the British had a great big airfield there, I believe with a huge operations center and the (shhhh!) RADAR vectoring group (it was very "top secret" at the time)... They monitored anything coming across the channel, air or sea, and sent planes to investigate... Peter White tells me that Basia's neighbors really are Geoff and Jill! HA! TTFN! --Di We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are. -Talmudic Saying ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Mar 1997 06:03:47 -0500 (EST) From: Phil Hall Subject: Re: Biggin Hill On Wed, 19 Mar 1997, Diane F. It struck me that she inconvenienced herself by living in a town with no rail service...and then I slapped myself awake: why the hell would she NEED to take a train!!??? And then further, if there is no train, then there will be fewer tourists (Yuck!) While in London (sorry, its what takes up my brain right now. It'll pass. Hey, is Roach in Australia?) we were close to the financial district (The City) and 99% of the females streaming through the streets from/to office/tube it seemed were wearing the sort of style of clothing Basia often wears in TV appearances - the black pin-stripe suit kind of thing. Black is definitely the color over there, from shoes to leather jackets and in betweeen. Also, shoulder-length straight hair seems popular. I was several times absolutely certain I was walking behind her..... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Mar 1997 09:15:34 -0600 From: Larry Lipman Subject: Re: basia-digest V2 #46 Phil: My son just came back from London! Wish I'd known you were going to be there... It was his first time overseas and he had a blast... went to a lot of Theatre and stage shows...pubs... rode the Tubes to death...went to Paris and tried out his four years of college french...Parisians were staging a demonstration and he couldn't get into the Mona Lisa room at the Louvre.... No rush on the video...as you can. Thanks for going to the trouble. My parents (really! honest!) will love it. But, hey - I like B&D too, so maybe I'll look at it first... Thanks again!
