Many of the rhythms on her records are samba-like. Did you know that Astrud Gilberto was the wife of Joao Gilberto? They introduced Brazilian music in the U.S. in about 1964 with an album that contained the Girl from Ipanema, Corcovado, and various others. They got here under the sponsorship of Stan Getz, a jazz saxophonist, who later married Astrud himself. I saw him in Sao Paulo in 1966, but not her. I'd really like to know how to catch up with The Waters of March. What CD is it on? Claudia ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V2 #23 **************************
