Interestingly, the tracks and side labeling are: "Side A" 1. Promises (Samba House Mix) 4:02 2. Promises (Deep Dub) 5:57 "Side One" 1. Promises (Justin Strauss remix) 7:12 2. Promises (Just Right Dub) 7:44 Among other things, the label has a UPC code on the right-hand side of the label, and the disc itself has no promo markings whatsoever. It is, in fact, identical to other Epic 12" singles that I bought at retail outlets at that time. I'll eventually add it to the regular releases section. But still no word on "Run For Cover" Toodles! I saw her in 1990, and yes, she and her backup vocalists did sing the rap, so consider that a confirmation. :) > I just bought the CD BASH 3 (the > "Prime Time TV") single a few weeks back and it DOES NOT include any > version of that song with any "rap" added to it. Unless there is some odd > UK promo lurking somewhere, that rumor was untrue. Drag. Looks like someone needs to go back in time with a tape recorder and snag that on audio! That rap was a sweet little addition to that song. BTW, JS, do you own the source for that clip of "Third Time Lucky" (Phil's Gas Station remix)? I would love to get that on audiocassette or minidisc. Wish I could offer a trade, but my collection, while rare, is pretty antiquated -- you probably have everything already on tape from other trades ... Or would you care to make an MPEG-2 audio file of the entire song? This way you could share it with everyone at once. :) If you're interested let me know -- I can do the conversion, or whatever arrangement you like. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Vince Mora http://www.swcp.com/synth/ Level 42 Home Page (but a devoted Basian) voice: USA: 505 332 0139 - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Do Not Attempt. That rap was a sweet little addition to that >song. Now, like I said, that doesn't rule out the fact that there may be some odd promo or single lurking somewhere. That discography is FAR from being anywhere near "complete." >BTW, JS, do you own the source for that clip of "Third Time Lucky" (Phil's >Gas Station remix)? Sure do. It appears on the following CD: Artist: Basia Song Title: Drunk On Love Year of Release: 1994 Label: Epic/Sony Serial Number: EU - 661158-2 Track Listing: 1. Drunk On Love (edit) (4:06) 2. Third Time Lucky (new version, aka "Phil's Gas Station Mix") (3:51) 3. Perfect Mother (3:51) 4. Drunk On Love (40 oz. of Love Dub) (9:05) There were at least two European CD singles for the "Drunk on Love" single. Why this was, I have no idea - her following in Europe seems to be mediocre at best (not that us U.S. fans are overly numerous, either) and yet they seem to get a slew of singles. The first came with the same cover photo as the US and Japanese singles (Basia sitting on a chair laughing), while the aforementioned one, or the second one, featured the Halina Tymusz painting of Basia from the interior linear notes of THE SWEETEST ILLUSION. The aforementioned single was also the one which featured the odd promotional sticker on it saying that one of the three songs on the CD was featured in Robert Altman's "Ready to Wear" film - mentioned that a few months back. >I would love to get that on audiocassette or >minidisc. Wish I could offer a trade, but my collection, while rare, is pretty >antiquated -- you probably have everything already on tape from other >trades ... If you have a certain little diddy commonly referred to as the ESK-1276 promo, its yours. ;) Actually, I've managed to acquire all those CDs you listed since then so you're SOL where that avenue is concerned. >Or would you care to make an MPEG-2 audio file of the entire song? Wish I knew how (insert Homer Simpson saying, "I'm an idiot" here). Actually, I'm currently having problems recording stuff with my sound card via my receiver. I've been trying to redo the rest of the songs on my homepage at a better resolution, plus I was going to add a clip of "Angels Blush" and something else which slips my mind at the moment, but my equipment isn't cooperating. >This way you could share it with everyone at once. :) If you're interested >let me know -- I can do the conversion, or whatever arrangement you >like. I'd love to put full versions of those songs on my homepage, if only I knew how (at a reasonable size, that is). As for that one particular song - I'm sure we can work something out, Vince. Let me know. Toodles! JSL ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Dec 1996 20:04:15 -0800 From: "Diane F. Fisli" Subject: Some PW news...
