Well when I bought this thing, I'm afraid I don't know when but it was probably before Roach learned to crawl up walls, the NG Society promised to send periodic updates of changes. This was a good selling point, I thought. Too good, obviously, as I got ONE, showing all the new flags of UN countries. Real innerestin. A few paragraphs may explain what happened to Waters of March, if it ever existed. "In a dramatic move underscoring serious problems in its Japanese music units, Sony Music Entertainment in Japan has cut its earnings forecast by more than half for the first six months of the year and canceled the release of more than 50 scheduled albums. Sony Music, Japan's largest label, had more than 700 records scheduled to be issued in the first half of its fiscal year that ends September 30 - about twice what Sony Music in the United States will release. Sony Japan will now release only 500, with 150 postponed and the rest dropped altogether. It appears likely that any artist who had their record outrighted would have a questionable future with the label, but Sony would not confirm Monday that it had dropped any acts." The article goes on to say that one of the albums delayed is by Dreams Come True, a hugely popular band in Japan. So, if Dreams is delayed, what would Sony do with an act that doesn't show a lot of interest in getting out a record. I don't know if it has anything to do with Basia, but it certainly makes interesting speculation. un abrazo, juan Oh yes, the Ancient Matt Bianco video is being converted. It should be on it's way to Ben next week. ------------------------------ From: "J.S. Well, I think they mean albums that are already done. Just because a Sony artist is in the process of making an album (at whatever rate) doesn't necessarily mean that they're going to be axed. I'm sure there are a ton of top notch, top moneymaking Sony artists who aren't doing squat at the moment. > I don't know if it has anything to do with Basia, but it certainly makes > interesting speculation. I'm pretty sure that one of two things would happen if Sony were to drop Basia: 1. It would scare Basia and Danny sober. It shouldn't be too difficult for them to find another label, but I'm sure it would make them think twice about sitting around doing nothing (if they wanted to keep on doing it, that is). 2. Basia would quit, period. No more albums, no more tours, no more nothing. Telling from that infamous answer to the last question presented to her on "The Sweetest Interview," it doesn't sound like it'd be too difficult for her to just stop doing it. By the way, just to conclude my thoughts on Water of March: IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T EXIST IT DOESN'T FRIGGIN BLOODY EXIST!!!!!!! We traded a few of our favorite songs via snail mail. After hearing BT, he clamoured for more. I went to Blockbuster bought him and his wife several old releases for Christmas. With the exception of a song from Greensleeves and a couple of songs from Brave new hope, the eastern europeans appear to be a unplowed field for BT to market in. - ---- Don Leuty dleuty@onramp.net dleuty@aol.com 96º8'W 34º11'N ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V1 #232 ***************************
