Finding out what equipment needed is always a good step and then ask around if they carry it. I know a guy in Houston who is always doing Pal conversion. Larry, our parent company is one of the largest cable systems in the world, and if you approached them with a PAL tape that you wanted converted, they wouldn't know what you were talking about! Like you said, the best bet would be in some major city. We don't have any equipment to do it in Buffalo that I'm aware of, but I know that Toronto does. (Just what we need - another country involved :) BTW, the system names that Alfred was using were not quite familiar - PAL(1) and NTSC 4.43. The NTSC standard sounds strangely like a bandwidth limit. Juan, you may find that a frame sync will not do anything for the video. Hopefully I'm all wet and we will see a frail, young, mere shadow of her present self, Basia. Di, Once upon a time I was requested to shoot a group live on stage (with my Olympus OM-1, not my Winchester!) and found that as I wandered about between musicians, severe ear-pain resulted at certain places, which could be relieved by stepping out of focus of the amps and monitors. Anyway must recall my now long lost youth, when used to be down front at the Rainbow in Finsbury Park London, and listen to groups such as Status Quo. Bob, I suspect you wore glasses long before that trip. !-) I can imagine the thrill of the experience, tho. Did you ever see `That Man From Rio'? It was a French film, about a guy (Belmondo) whose girlfriend is kidnapped to Brazil, and the chase ensues. His interaction with a slum kid was what set it apart. I saw it at a drive-in in Melbourne, Florida, when I was a teen-ager. It was better than all of the Elvis flicks from that era, fer sure. Another good one about Rio is the classic Cary Grant/Ingred Bergmann `Notorious' by Hitchcock. Great film.
