I remember when I last saw her in concert at the Jazz Café in London in 1994, I was actually standing right in front of the stage and could see her close-up. She was very slim - her waist must be something like 20" or less! - but she was full of energy, throughout the evening. And, of course I got to shook her hand - TWICE! - ---------------------- Alfred Wong alfred@globalnet.co.uk ------------------------------ From: paxety Date: Mon, 26 Aug 1996 10:40:11 -0400 Subject: Re: J.S.Lohr in an accident At 04:09 AM 8/26/96 +0000, you wrote: >Ben Combee writes: >> >> Kelli, Roach's girlfriend, just wrote to me and told me that our >> esteemed Basia list member was in a serious automobile accident over >> the weekend and would be in the hospital for a while. This is gettin weird. BTW, I haven't seen Ben's thrilled and amazed response to Al Wong's incredible discovery. Must be those hazy crazy days of the end 'o summer, no? I sure hope I get to see those early vids. Oh well, I now have a good excuse to visit the UK. Al, Well, I wish I could review my copy of the VH1 special, but alas it is=20 with Ben, and I cannot. I only recall that in the WSAYO glimpses it=20 provides she is seated at a table with a paperback book, and her arms are= =20 pretty thin and angular, kinda bony, actually. But not desiring to beat a= =20 dead horse, I will confess I thought she looked pretty good in '94, well=20 nourished despite her petiteness, which is certainly what we want to see. And if those early videos reveal what it means to be a starving artist, I= =20 can only imagine how scrawny she must have been in Chicago in 1980.=20 Is the year in which she worked in Chicago 1980, anyone? If possible, I=20 would like the year confirmed. Phil (who lived in Illinois from 1977 to 1979. Gads, if I'd only known, I=20 would have stuck around!) ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V1 #203 ***************************
