I must've said. "He's not bad." Peter always claims he can't sing, yet he has an amazing ear so is typically *on* when he does sing... I rather like his voice, and think that if he were to take vocal lessons so as to *train* his voice, he might even sing something aloud one day... Other than in the shower (*he* says, this is not from my personal experiences, ya understand) (HA!), that is... :) A memory comes back tho -- he and I were bipping around the Valley going to various music stores and counting stock... One of those weird kinda days when I felt like I might be in an episode of the "Twilight Zone", as I called across the store to Peter, "One Excusez-Moi, one Promenade cassette." (imagine!) Anyhoo, when we were in the car, between conversation he was ruminating over which tunes to pick for the upcoming "Reflections" album, and was half-singing, half-mumbling "When I Fall In Love (It Will Be Forever)". And I echoed Roach's thoughts... He's not bad... Anyhoo... Den sed: > BTW, I realized after I sent the last post that the list of >people PW sited must have been awfully tough to come up with, even >though it is lengthy. He mentioned most if not all of the musicians he'd been working with since "Reflections"... And if he didn't mention someone (like Dave Camp, for instance), it was because Dave was a part of the album... The "mentions" list were for those who weren't on the album... At the top of your lungs!!! At the very most, you may startle a few people in passing cars, and they can only hear you if they have their windows open... :) I do it all the time! :D > >Oh yeah, I was interested to see Peter trying to shoot the pier on an >Ovation. Funny, I don't recall seeing him use one during the Basia gigs >live or on the tube. Typically when he does the Basia gigs he is playing the electric (like for "Drunk On Love"), tho he *will* break out the Ovation from time to time (such as for "From Now On")... Then there's the accordion! It's a good thing Lori (the photographer) wasn't trying to take that shot the other day when we had 25 foot swells and breakers over by that pier... That big storm in Tahiti is really making the surfers WORK over here! TTFN! -Di. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~ Diane F. Di, You gotta get Peter to tour the Northeast, preferably upstate New York! We'd love to see him here. (Yeah, I know, he was here with Basia, but that's not the same.) BTW, was that "Steve Reid" on the list from the Rippingtons? He's an absolutely fantastic percussionist. We saw them here in March. They brought the house down. I found myself in Sears in Newington, NH. on Friday. My sales thing was not so stupid: he realised immediately I was not there to buy. I had to chase him around to ask pertinent questions. I was told the disc was playing on a machine "out back". The feed was of Ottmar Liebert, serenading some surfers, a bunch of movie trailers, Kenmore ads, etc. After 20 minutes with no Basia, I decided the forward approach was best. I was there looking for a Basia video. What's that? A female vocalist that I had heard was featured on a Sears Exclusive promo video disc. Sears never sells its promo material. OK, is there a Basia video on the feed currently being displayed? Dunno. Are you interested in a TV or a player? Actually, I was hoping you might help me find this video. Blank look. Then, Try Strawberries. We only sell hardware. I replied, I want the Sears promo, not commercial stuff. At this point he turned away and sallied over to a more promising chump hyperventilating over a 31 inch display. This guy he wanted to help. I stuck around watching the junk recycle thru the video bank for a few more minutes. I was not disturbed in this by another sales crank; the word had evidently gotten around on me. It was kind of satisfying, in a way. Phil ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V1 #181 ***************************
