I was at Best Buy and remembered your email, so I had the girl look for it. It said the release date was the 23rd, so she went into the back and brought out about 15 of them. (And of course I had to ask "You *are* going to put those in the rack, right?".. just a little 'push' for Peter) ;-) I find that as I grow older, I'm a building a tolerance for music without words. (Gawd, I'm becoming my mother!) I'm not at that point yet, I still like to sing in the car, be-bop in my chair and dance around the kitchen while I'm (supposedly) cleaning it, but once I do get to that point, I suspect I'll listen to this CD alot... and knowing me, probably buy everything else of his I can find. I know my dad would like this too, I'll have to buy him a copy. And Basia's song... yes, it's pretty mellow, but I like it. Did someone mention "serene"? That's the word. Just got back from Tower in Annapolis where I bought - you guessed it - Peter White's "Caravan of Dreams." Haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but that's not really what we're all interested in, correct? First, this slap in the face goes out to all the people (past present and future) who have said or will say that "Just Another Day" doesn't sound like a "Basia" (whatever the hell that means) song: <*SLAP*> Hell-o! It doesn't sound like a Basia song `cause its NEW. Frankly, if you put a piano line in it and tone down the guitar a little bit (but let's not forget, this is Peter White's album in the first place) and this thing is the 12th track from THE SWEETEST ILLUSION. Geez - "...doesn't sound like a Basia song..." - what the HELL were you expecting? "Perfect Mother - Revisited"? What the hell are the posts gonna be like in `98? "It doesn't sound like a Basia album." THAT'S BECAUSE ITS *NEW* you nimrods! For those of you out there who haven't heard the track yet, I know you're probably building it up in your heads that this "Just Another Day" is going to be something radically different from anything you've ever heard Basia do in the past - don't get your hopes up. Its a lovely, beautiful, and kinda depressing song, but it sounds like its straight from the '98 album (or what I'm expecting the '98 album to sound like). BTW - our own Diane Filsi has her name listed in the "special thanks/moral support" column so: bravo, Diane! Also, you had better tell Peter that the manufacturing people at Columbia screwed up his linear notes from this album - unless they were going for this effect, the linear booklet folds up incorrectly. Can't anyone ever get anything right? ;) Toodles! Basia sang on Matt Bianco's "Who's Side Are You On." I haven't been able to find this CD at any of the big stores in S.F. Does anyone know if it's available in stores, or only through special order? And if someone out there has it, how is it? Does she sing on the whole CD, or on just a few tracks? Thanks, Jason_Siciliano@imad.com ------------------------------ From: roach2@juno.com (J.S. Very good - but I think we already know that. ;) >I haven't been able to find this CD at any of the big stores >in S.F. And you typically won't find it in any of the mainstream bins - if you want to find it on CD you're going to have to look in the import bins. The CD has yet (if ever) to be released here in the States. The tape and LP have been available for awhile, but they may now be out of print. And since tapes have become the medium's newest endangered species, its going to become harder and harder as time goes by to find WSAYO on tape. >Does anyone know if it's available in stores, or >only through special order? You can order it through CDNow at: http://www.cdnow.com for about $23. >And if someone out there has it, >how is it? Does she sing on the whole CD, or on just a few >tracks? Except for her missing vocals on "More Than I Can Bear" and during the "Matt's Mood" instrumentals, her vocals are all there. >Thanks, No worries. Is there a correct way and an incorrect way? It looks fine to me, if you have it the other way - with the opening on the right side - then the pages will get stuck (bent, crushed, torn) on the plastic tabs when you're sliding it into the case.
