This address appears in both "Time and Tide" and "Basia on Broadway". The reason I'm asking is that I sent out a letter to that address before asking for information, but never received anything back. What's ironic is that I actually live about 10 minutes from Biggin Hill, but can never figure out the connection between this place and Basia. Or do I?...)..... The lawyer is valuable because of his or her clout so it could facilitate finding a good record company to sign with, a hall to perform at, etc. Also, it's the lawyer who negotiates the deals; so if the lawyer had insisted on paying Basia 99% of the hall's gross receits for her Neil Simon show, it would have been a nice reason to thank him on the album cover. :) With that money, Basia can mark her time for another decade now until she releases another album. :))) By the way, guys, is there any biography of Basia available anywhere? I have downloaded what Ben Combee had on his Basia Homepage (thank you, Ben) but there are still plenty of things I would be happy to know about her (e.g., when she was born). Hopefully, this query won't entail discussions on releasing a biographical novel on Basia (remember, this whole video buzz started after I placed a question about Basia videos availability?). :))) - -- === = = = = = Vitebsky-23-5-34 = = S-Petersburg 196244 = = = = = = Russia = = = = Tel/Fax (812)-264-1005 (private) = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = E-mail victor@jazz.spb.su = = V i c t o r Z a m o u l i n e ------------------------------ From: "J.S. The bio on the new (and old) Sony page seems to be as good as it gets. The interview on that Lauren Hutton program was also pretty good for trivial pieces of info... BTW, in answer to your birthdate question, its September 30th, 1959 (thanks to the newest All-Music Guide for that tidbit of information). Toodles. Some have said that they think its the address for some sort of stealth fan club, but I remember reading an article in Billboard magazine shortly after LWNY came out in which Basia said how she papered the walls of her in home studio with fan letters that were sent to the "address which appeared in the credits on TIME AND TIDE." I think its just a correspondence address... > The reason I'm asking is that I sent out a letter to that address before > asking for information, but never received anything back. Well, I also seem to remember that that same article mentioned that she lived in Kent...and isn't Biggin Hill located in Kent? The only disappointing thing was the use of the phony musicians in some of them. Other than that, though, it was an enjoyable way to spend part of my Saturday afternoon. BTW, a note to Ben, I will mail the raw masters on Tuesday, when I get back to work. Dennis - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis J. I always thought the LWNY stuff was really good, and "Time and Tide" and "New Day For You" are classics, but I could do without the super close ups of Basia's teeth in "Promises" and "Prime Time TV." Weren't those the ones directed by Crescenzo Notarile? That dude's got a seriously unhealthy oral fixation...:D My favorite part was always the interview in Warsaw's Market Square - when those four punk kids are standing there watching Basia be interviewed in the horse and carriage... tell me they didn't pay those kids to stand there! Probably went somewhere along the lines of: Polish Kids: Basia? Who's Basia? Publicity Agent: Look, here's 100 zloty. Stand there and look interested. :D > The only disappointing thing was the use of the phony musicians in some of > them. Yeah, like that bassist in "Promises." Poor guy was hopeless... Toodles!
