With your literary talents, you could write a bestseller about it all (although, probably, you just have to edit the code of regulations to make a bestseller out of it). Another item to join your list is the requirement that existed in Russia until around 1990: if you had ANY books or audiotapes on you when crossing the border, you were obliged to submit them all to the customs about a month prior to the departure date, so that the guys could read them all and listen to them all and make sure there was no antisoviet propaganda in them. - -- === = = = = = Vitebsky-23-5-34 = = S-Petersburg 196244 = = = = = = Russia = = = = Tel/Fax (812)-264-1005 (private) = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = E-mail victor@jazz.spb.su = = V i c t o r Z a m o u l i n e ------------------------------ From: paxety Date: Wed, 22 May 1996 11:43:16 GMT Subject: Re: Yes, it's true... does this mean you are offering to put all of us up? un abrazo,\ juan At 09:50 PM 5/20/96 +0000, you wrote: >Hooray! > >Yes, it's true! > >Matt Bianco is going to perform on May, 26th in the Koenigsburg in Krefeld, >Germany at 19:00. >I really don't know what they are doing there and why they are coming out >of their holes, and why in Krefeld, but damn, I'm gonna ask them and tell >you. >If somebody wants to join me, tell me soon...... > >Dirk > > >Dirk Pilat, Medical Student 5months before graduation >University of Cologne, FRG >Fax: ++ 49221 4201000 | http://www.rrz.uni-koeln.de/~akb02 >Member of the Internet Dermatology Society | Maintainer of the Matt Bianco >Mailinglist > > > > ------------------------------ From: "Diane F. (heh heh heh!) It is really great to have such an international community on this mailing list! Jackie's customs comments were very engrossing. It would be interesting to hear why some of these rules are in place, I mean, I suppose a lot of that has to do with support of native manufacturers, or perhaps politics. But *no* watches in Nepal? Hmmm. I'm glad to see this video thing developing, for I know I have a lot of Basia vids but they're scattered amongst hundreds of other little clips of stuff... Be nice to have it all in one spot... And I have been communicating with someone via snailmail who has some good boot LIVE Basia vids... At least he *says* he does, I've been trying to get this procrastinator off his duff for a long time now... He promised... And I've been bugging him... He's a good sort, nice fellow, but *S*L*O*W*... But maybe somewhere down the road we can add this to the video bank... News regarding the Basia cut on PW's album... We want it. PW wants it. Basia wants it. Danny wants it... There's a bit of a legal problem that has to be ironed out, and it's beginning to look like we may actually see (hear) this one after all... Sounds cool, dude. Just make sure you get your heads cleaned before you tape. > Toodles! For Victor: "Toodles" comes from "toodle-oo," a variant of "tootle-oo," which, according to Partidge's Concise Dictionary of Slang and Un- conventional English, means "good-bye." Maybe you need this book. You can always ask me, your friendly American law-abiding Basia-loving librarian. By the way, the only song from TSI that KYOT, my favorite jazz station in Phoenix, ever played was "Yearning." I heard "Drunk on Love" maybe twice on my favorite adult-contemporary station. Now someone needs to come forward and volunteer... > > JSL. Hi everyone... I've been trying to ignore the hints about doing the dubs of this video collection, but my conscience keeps nagging me. Here's the deal: While we can cover most of the major broadcast tape formats for the edit domain, including non-linear hard disk digital video, believe it or not, we only have *one* VHS deck in our building. We only use it to make courtesy dubs for people appearing on our air. If that thing got messed up doing all the dubs this list needs, it would be my ass. (Besides, I would be the one who has to repair it!) I could maybe do the initial transfers to beta and then edit them into something watchable (I have no jurisdictional problems where I work, Juan), but the mass duplication would be impossible. What could we do at that point? I could give the edit masters to someone else on the list who could then duplicate them, if that's possible. Or maybe we could explore what a dubbing house would charge for a smallish quantity. Any suggestions? Dennis - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dennis J.
