I could see a jazz festival being better suited for, say, Virginia, or even up here by Towson - but Fort Meade? All there is in Fort Meade is, like, a bowling alley, 4,000,000 Porn Video shops, and a lot of abusive husbands - - oh, yeah, and the military base (which is where all the abusive husbands work). Granted, there are alot of wooded areas in Fort Meade and I can't say that I've ever been to a park in or near there, but I've also never heard about any kind of substantial music festival being performed there. There is one festival in particular that's held yearly somewhere around here (I think Spyro Gyra performed at it last year) but I know it wasn't in Fort Meade. > If Peter wants to promote his albums, why not hit the markets that count? Lohr" Date: Thu, 16 May 1996 00:49:58 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Big Rosie and The Other Side Greetings fellow Matt Bianco and Basia fans...oh yeah, and you too, Dirk. Just managed to wrestle a moment aside to sit and listen to the two newly discovered Matt Bianco B sides from the WSAYO singles... just thought I'd mumble for a few moments about what I thought of the songs, and to put some of your completist minds at ease (in other words, I don't think you're missing much). Here goes: Big Rosie - the side "B" to the 7" single for "Get Out of Your Lazy Bed," sounds pretty much like all the other songs on WSAYO, but its a bit more boring. Its sounds like, well, it sounds like a side "B." The music is kinda plain, the lyrics are, well, lyrics, and the vocal stylings are similar to the rest of WSAYO: basically, Basia doing complimentary vocals to Mark Reilly's lead. Not much to rave about - but it did come in a nice picture sleeve...Basia fans would recognize the picture on the back as the one which appeared in the '94 Tourbook (on page 3 or 4, I think...I don't have it in front of me) - the one of Matt Bianco as a foursome (yes, Kito Poncioni is actually in this picture). The Other Side - or should I say, "Matt's Mood III?" Yes, its an instrumental, and an excellent one at that (yet another persuasionary piece for the "Danny White Solo Album" campaign). It sounds vaguely like Matt's Mood I, but the solos are much more complex - Ronnie Ross' baritone sax absolutely steams on this track. What has me stumped is how this track has gone unnoticed by Matt Bianco fans for all these years... it comes as the "b" side to the "Whose Side Are You On?" 7", but I have another 7" single for the same song which comes with a completely different cover photo (see Ben's Basia home page) and a completely different side "b" track. But they're both UK singles... Anyway, that's my $.02 worth...
