Lohr" Date: Tue, 7 May 1996 02:40:56 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Tributes, Schmibutes In reference to Carolina John's recent news about "Water of March": So, did we ever establish what "Water of March" really was? IS IT really only a tribute album with one song by Basia? If this is the case, I have two questions (which AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE RHETORICAL, but I know no one out there will bother responding :P )... 1) If this is a tribute album, who else (artist-wise) appears on it? Seeing as how its apparently a Sony-only project, could one expect other songs by, say, Sade or Celine "Canada's Most Yuckie Export" Dion? (yes, I said it - sue me, 'kay?) 2) If this is a tribute album, why is it only ever listed under Basia's name? That'll do it for now. BTW, that makeshift newsgroup that Sony has set up on their Basia homepage seems to be getting more messages than we are...I feel unloved :( Oh, yeah - maybe with Dirk gone, we can talk about the Atlantic conspiracy to not give Basia a singing credit on "Yeh Yeh" (I finally have a supporter, so I'm not alone in my quest to seek the truth!). Bye for now. ********************************* R O A C H ********************************* * The Roach Motel @ http://zeus.towson.edu/~jlohr1 -- Bugs are people, too * * He loves Yugoslavians, Boba Fett, Chunky Chicken, and Yummy British Cows * ***************************************************************************** ************* "Live every day as if it were your last `cause ************* ************* sooner or later, you'll be right." - Hal Roach ************* ********************************* R U L E S ********************************* So who is that Chow Yun Fat guy anyway? ------------------------------ From: combee@techwood.org (Ben Combee) Date: Tue, 7 May 1996 10:28:04 -0500 (CDT) Subject: New things at BasiaWeb Hello, all. I just got an e-mail from Ishihara Hideki in Japan with the remaining lyrics to all the songs on _Time and Tide_. It's up on the web page now. I also have a new scan of the UK single for _Time and Tide_ up, with more to come very soon now. Diane promises me some pics of Basia, Danny, and Peter, so that will be very cool. BTW, I still believe in _Waters of March_, and I'm still trying to find the Doctor Who/Basia connection I had mentioned earlier on the list. As always, BasiaWeb is http://www.yak.net/basia/ Thanks! - -- Benjamin L. Heh. If it doesn't take three *%$#$@*! days to separate them with a shorthandled sledge and a fork-wedge pry bar, yeah, maybe. Got a lot of muscle? I am thinking of starting a repair shop, complete with lady mechanics, and a token strong (handsome) guy... Whaddaya think? ;-) Re: webstuff. Here's the scoop -- I am right down to the edge of getting Peter White's website off on the WWW. Matter of fact, if you check out http://peterwhite.com now, you'll see the shell of the home page with a header graphic, and I think you can link to the (auto)bio page. Maybe by the time some of you read this, the whole danged thing will actually be up. I'm having trouble with my new Pacificnet software (and they just changed over to Apache and are snowed under with tech support calls and other assorted nonsense so the phone lines are jammed), so I can't do any FTP'ing or otherwise tweaking of the files . At this point in time, all the files are *there*, I just can't get into their system to do anything about making them *work*. (sigh!) Ben, I've got a really nice shot of Basia and Danny for your Basia website. Will send it (and others) when I can grab a moment to scan them in and .jpg them for you. If it looks like I'm going to be stuck here all day waiting for phone calls, this just might be *today*!!! (fix your car, get mobile, get stuck in the office. sheesh!) Peter will be back in town from England at the end of the week, and I'm seeing him on Saturday at the Hyatt Newporter Jazz Festival in Newport Beach. Hope he brings home some juicy gossip! (heh!) TTFN! --Di. ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V1 #108 ***************************
