Time And Tide 2. Half A Minute 3. Astrud 4. How Dare You 5. From Now On 6. Prime Time TV (extended remix) 7. Run For Cover (extended remix) 8. New Day For You (extended version) 9. Freeze Thaw (instrumental) Note: Tracks 1-5 were recorded live on June 19th, 1988 in Chicago. This CD is very rare. Now, some would say that this is the "rarest" of Basia promos, singles, what have you. I would argue this point, though, simply because I'm aware of some other tidbits which, as far as I know, NO ONE has ever SEEN, much less owned. For example, anyone out there got the UK 10" single for "Baby You're Mine?" Or perhaps the 12" single for "New Day For You" which includes the never before heard "Club MIx" version of that same song? The ESK-1276 promo is "rare" because its old. I'm sure if you were to pick up a copy of GOLDMINE magazine from 1989-1990 you'd probably find at least a handful of places selling it for $5-$15. By the way, I add this editorial simply because this CD has been a BIG pain in my ass for a LONG time and I love talking about it. On a side note: a while back, a fellow named Vince Mora (don't know if he's still with us) posted a list of the UK CD singles he owned for the discography. He also mentioned hearing a rumor that the UK CD single for "Prime Time TV" contained a version of that song that had a "rap" added to it, much like the version allegedly performed during the 1990 tour (I say alleged because I never saw it). I just bought the CD BASH 3 (the "Prime Time TV") single a few weeks back and it DOES NOT include any version of that song with any "rap" added to it. Unless there is some odd UK promo lurking somewhere, that rumor was untrue. Toodles! I thought I had the "New Day For You" 12", but when I looked at the discography, I realized that my two Basia 12" singles were Promises (US - 12") Run For Cover (US - 12") However, after looking further, I found you had listed them under promo items. These both got commercial release, so they should be under the other section. Next time I get back to Georgia, I'll check the index numbers to see if they are the same as in the listing... since the tracks are the same, I'd assume they are. BTW, I have a few cassette singles from the T&T/LWNY era that aren't in the listing (I guess they aren't discs, but...), and there are two albums I have that have a Basia track that aren't mentioned -- Greenpeace Rainbow Warriors ("Miles Away" appears) and a promo tape called Autographs that was being sold at Target last year. The cassettes match the US 7"s for T&T and NDFY, but diverge for the three LWNY singles. I think all the bonus tracks were repeated on BNH and the Japanese Best Remixes discs. - -- Benjamin L. Well, I just added a few items to BasiaWeb and moved a few things around. The broken link to Roach's home page is gone, the pictures are organized by type, and a few more mailing list articles are online. I just realized that we could be something both funny and cool. You've all seen the various web buttons, those small images that look like buttons that people put up promoting a particular web browser or search engine. Well, I'm about to produce my first web button. The general design: +-----------------------+ + + + Basia + + BB on + + Board! + + + +-----------------------+ with the BB being a larger icon like the double B used on the Sweetest Illusion tour, and the word "Basia" in some sort of standout color. Background would be the standard light grey. I know its a silly idea... but I think I want to do it anyway. Check out the BasiaWeb for details on it soon. Put it on your own web pages and spread the news! - -- Benjamin L. As for the other one, NO ONE has EVER said ANYTHING to me about having it, and I've always been curious to hear the "Club Mix" of "New Day For You" - I'm assuming its probably somewhere along the lines of the Vokal mix of "Third Time Lucky" (what a piece of monkey dung that was - Basia meets Charles Mansen). >but when I looked at the >discography, I realized that my two Basia 12" singles were > > Promises (US - 12") > Run For Cover (US - 12") > >However, after looking further, I found you had listed them under >promo items. The "Promises" listed was a WLP, or White Label Promo. If it had a commercial release (which I doubt) version than it might've had the same serial number. And I don't have it in front of me, but I'm almost 100% sure that the "Run For Cover" listed was also a WLP (even though it did come in a black sleeve). >These both got commercial release, so they should be under the other section. Show me proof of this and I'll be happy to add it to the regular releases section, but I'm pretty sure that neither one was released domestically as a 12". >Next time I get back to Georgia, I'll check the index numbers to see >if they are the same as in the listing... since the tracks are the >same, I'd assume they are. If the tracks are the same you might've just bought the promos without the stickers on them. After all, some record shops might've been reluctant back then to selling a 12" single that had "PROPERTY OF CBS RECORDS - DO NOT SELL" stamped on them. And like I said, if they were by chance released domestically its very likely that they shared serial numbers. I own both and I know that the ONES I HAVE are both stamped promos. >BTW, I have a few cassette singles from the T&T/LWNY era that aren't >in the listing (I guess they aren't discs, but...), and there are two I suppose I should've mentioned them but just didn't feel that they were necessary. >The cassettes match the US 7"s for T&T and NDFY, but diverge for the >three LWNY singles. Here's what I had for the LWNY stuff: Cruising For Bruising: Side A) Cruising for Bruising Side B) Come to Heaven Same as the US promo CD (including cover art) Baby You're Mine: Side A) Baby You're Mine Side B) Masquerade Same as the US promo CD (including cover art) Until You Come Back to Me: Side A) Until You Come Back to Me (remix) Side B) Baby You're Mine (street version) Same as SOMETHING out there...
